Strategic Planning for DVC

    This thread will be kind of like "A List for Claire", but not exactly.

    In business school, you learn about a tool called a SWOT Analysis, where you analyze the company by looking at its Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats.

    I would not be at all surprised if Ms. Bilby is already in the process of doing this. So, let's help her out...let us, the educated DVC member help Claire in creating her SWOT Analysis.

    I'll start with a short list. (These are in no particular order.)

    PLEASE add yours.

    Disney reputation for quality
    Deep Pockets
    Large Land Ownership in Desirable Location

    Orlando Timeshare Market is near saturation
    DVC has most timeshares in one location
    Growing dis-satisfaction among customer base

    Build more on owned land
    Build in new locations
    Make alliances with other timeshares, hotels, etc.
    Make strategic acquisitions and partnerships that make sense.

    Competition from resellers
    Competition from other timeshares, hotels, etc.
    Credit Crunch
    Economic uncertainty

    If this is a successful thread...I will periodically put these together. The next (fun) step is to create a strategy for the company that comes from the results of the SWOT Analysis.

    Its totally cool to discuss whether an item belongs on the list, so let's go! This will be fun!!
