Strangest or yuckiest thing your kid got in their TOT bag?

A coupon for $ off on a facial. Guess they thought she needed it?

<font color=navy>My kids always liked getting those pencils - thought that was cool.... but, bran flakes?

Last night, my dd got a whole pack of oreo cookies, and she also got a fashion magazine (hmmm, I'd better check it out & make sure the pics are okay) ... I thought - who has the $ to hand out fashion mags?

We have a neighbor who hands out comic books every year. He has 3 bins, one for girls, one for boys, and one for the younger kids. Each child gets 3 comic books rolled up and tied with a ribbon. They float bones in their pool, have a mini haunted house on their patio, fog machines, and tons of carved pumpkins. Their house is the most popular in the neighborhood!

My in-laws pass out religious tracts for Halloween. I think it's terribly tacky.

But at least they give out candy too. MIL says it's nourishment for the soul and junk for the body

The bran flakes were given out by a family brand new to the block.

A bunch of Asian (Chinese or Japanese, I think) answered the door. The oldest one (8 or 9) said they didn't have any candy, and it was the best they could do.

I was as nice and friendly as I could be, but the look on DS's face! It looked just like our  smilie guy. Thank goodness he didn't say anything though!

Does their ethnicity add anything to the story or is it mentioned just because?

Oops! Forgot to mention that it appears as though they are almost as new to this country as they are to neighborhood.

We think the family was recently transferred from wherever they came from and are probably not up to speed on American customs yet.

Hence, I guess they were thinking cereal could be an appropriate Halloween treat.

As I read the title, I thought ... "my DD doesn't have a 'Tower of Terror' bag." Do you think that's a sign that I've been spending waaaaaaay too much time on these boards? LOL!

Oooh a triple post.

you don't see those everyday here on the DIS. :jester:

Well, at the mall where I work, all the stores were giving out candy, but, the Chinese restaurant gave out fortune cookies.:D

Some of the little kids were confused about what they were. :D

Our kids got a decent loot, nothing weird or yucky.

JJ--I'd assume also that they were probably new to our customs as well! I bet they are more up to speed next halloween.

We always walk our dog as we are trick-or-treating, one person gave a dog biscuit to our son and said "here's a treat for your dog too!"

When my kids were younger:( they got some ODD and NEAT things. One neighbor took a Poloroid Picture of each kid in his/her costume........no candy, just the Picture. They also got money, once from somebody Who's Wedding I went to....these people had MONEY and gave out a handfull of Pennies!  Tracts for HALLOWEEN? I would have gave it back, and told them DO NOT SHOVE YOUR RELIGION ON ME!

My children received pencils at one house. The neighbor kids who were in a group immediatedly ahead of my children were rude about it and gave the lady back her pencils. I was pleased that my children took the pencils and were gracious and thank the lady for the Halloween treat.

BTW, this tread reminds me of an "Everyone Loves Raymond" episode (my wife loves this show) where Peter Boyles, the grandfather, ran out of candy and handed out birth control devises in lieu of candy.

:D No he wasn't in a bag of M&M's, we looked there. We were going nuts last night trying to find him. We gave up and went to bed.

Maybe they would have better luck on a milk carton.

We went to a house that was giving out those free AOL CD you see everwhere.

I'm sorry but that is so funny...lol! Humm the strangest thing J.C. got was a sports bottle filled with miniature candy bars. I thought that was really nice.
