Strange ticket ? - CM forgot to charge tax at time of purchase

Something strange happened today regarding a 10 day park hopping/no expiration ticket I purchased last week. I called CRO to make a building request for Pop Century. The CM was very sweet and helpful, but then she said that the computer was showing that I owed more money on my ressie. Apparently, the CM that handled my ticket purchase did not charge me the tax on the ticket. I found this a bit odd since I made sure to ask whether or not tax was included in the price quoted and was told it was.

I bought the ticket on 12/31 for $332. I was told this included the extra features (park hopping & non-expiration) plus tax with an advanced purchase discount. By my calculations, this sounded about right, but then again I was always bad in math. Today I had to pay an extra $21 to cover tax which brought the total to $353.00. The CM I spoke with assured me that this was the price for the tax and not the 2006 price hike. I considered asking for a manager just to make sure that this was correct but had to return to work. Why on earth would the first CM not charge me the tax, especially when I asked if tax was included?

Does this sound right? Did the first CM make the mistake of not charging tax or did the second CM make some sort of mistake? After work, I plan to check the prices out myself, but if anyone has purchased the 10 day ticket, please let me know if these prices are correct.

It does happen, more often than you might think.

If you had really griped about it they MAY have let you off without the extra payment, but not likely. Unless you have proof positive it was their error (the CM's name, date, confession of his/her error and a confirmation from 6 of their best friends, written in blood!!) you have no choice but to pay it.

I know that's not your question (you weren't looking for something 'free' :) ) but someone is bound to say you shouldn't have to pay it since it's their error.
 
The 10 day hopper non expiring with tax for 2006 is $401.51 so it sounds like you got the old price. I don't think that they could adjust the price even if it was the CM error in this case since it involves a tax issue, something that we all (including WDW) have to pay. ;) Sorry that you were misinformed the first time...maybe it was related to the room deposit and not the tickets?
 
Thanks for the info so far. At first I thought they did get confused between the room and the tickets. However, I purchased them seperately one week apart, so this is most definitely just the tickets. I don't mind paying for something I should have payed for in the first place. I just didn't want to pay for something in error. I finally got the search function to work and found the 2005 prices. :cool1: The $353 figure seems right after tax, so all is well with the world.

In November, I checked the official Disney website, and that is the price that was quoted, and it did not include tax. I remember it was $332, or $335, close to what you paid before taxes. I remember because I then went to Mousesavers with the link to Ticketmania, and that's the price I then paid thru them, tax included. I was amazed that Ticketmania was $20 cheaper: their price after taxes was the same as Disney's before taxes.

Unfortunately, I think they were right that you weren't charged taxes with the first quote. You do remember that the only sure things are death and taxes!!!
 
The tax rate is somewhere around 6-7% so with a $332 ticket, sales tax around $21 would be expected. They probably forgot to hit a button for finalizing the total and read you the wrong price.
