I just had to share this because it really shocked me, but also made my day!

I was in a hair salon in a Walmart to buy a hair product and the man and two kids were standing nearby too. This cute boy, around 10 years old, almost knocked me off my feet when he tried to cut in front of me. I wasn't mad or anything, but he apologized profusely and said, "Want a hug?"

:lmao:

I looked at the dad and he looked mildly amused, so I said, "Sure!" thinking the kid wouldn't hug me, but he did. I told the dad, "What a nice child you have!" then told the kid, "You really are, you're such a nice kid!" and then the mom came in and I told her how nice he was and she said, "What? Did he give you a hug and kiss?" :rotfl2:

Just this random thing really made my day. I've been going through an extremely rough time lately and that boy put a big smile on my face. :goodvibes

Sometimes it's good to be friendly to strangers. In a world like ours, we can't help but raise our kids to be wary. It was a nice surprise.

Aaawww! That is so sweet!

Thanks for sharing something so positive!

Oh my word that is funny. :rotfl2:

Well my 10 yo was the opposite today. I was in a waiting room and we were the only ones there for a few minutes. So this lady comes in and sits down and looks at ds who is playing his ds and says oh what game are you playing? Well he looks at her and says ehhhhh and shrugs his shoulders. She says do you know which game it is? He says yes but.....so I said well tell her which game it is, then he gives me the evil and eye and says mom i dont know her. Lol. So I apologized to her and said well apparently the dont talk to strangers lecture actually sunk in. I was embarrassed but she laughed it off.

:lmao: That's more what you expect from kids that age! That's why it threw me for such a loop.

And I had to laugh because my DD (12 going on 13) was standing outside the door looking completely appalled by everything. The disgusted look on her face was priceless, so of course I had to embarrass her by pointing out my own "sweet" child. :teeth:

That is sweet...........he didn't pick your pockets did he?? ........just kidding!

Aww!! That is so sweet! I believe there are no accidents, no coincidences. That happened for a reason.
I hope your rough time gets much, much better soon!

Sweet! Kids can be really sweet sometimes. I sub all over the district (19 schools) and kids come up to me all the time--sometimes I get hugs but mostly waves and inquisitive parents.

There is a hair salon in the Walmart? I've never seen that!

Me too.

Well, I'll take it a step further. I believe God knows each of us very well and that His love was shown to you through that child. :lovestruc

I had a lady bring me a dozen roses a few weeks ago for no reason. I had had a particularly rough week and she walks in and gave me beautiful roses. She said she just had this urge to give them to me and that she thought it might be God nudging her so she brought them in. It felt like a big hug from God to me.

Thanks for sharing your sweet story.

Now don't be too flattered, didn't you get the memo? Yesterday was "Hug a Skank" Day:rotfl: ..........easy people, we're playing:lmao:

What a great story!

I once had my cousins (3&4 at the time) They look as though they could be twins, so they get a lot of attention. Well this old lady comes up to them and starts making over how cute, blah blah- I say Thank you and tell the oldest to say thank you, and he says "No, b/c I HATE that lady!" I don't think he really understood what he said, but I felt terrible for that old lady! I told her that he really doesn't like strangers.:rolleyes1

:lmao: I know! We're so used to hearing bad stories about kids. It totally blew me away, first when he was SO apologetic and then about the hug. :)

Thanks so much. I agree with you about there being no coincidences.

Gawd, 19 schools, how do you keep them straight? :scared1:

I work with the older kids (prefer high school). I have to say, I did my student teaching back in 2006 and did 9 weeks at 1 school, and 9 weeks at another. Those kids still remember me and give me hugs when I see some of them. Especially the boys, which totally amazes me!

I love seeing kids who are so open and friendly.

Awww, I love you too.

Reminds of the Oprah episode of the man who traveled the world giving free hugs. It was very heart warming.

Just think, you got experience it in your own town :)
