I nearly broke a rib today trying to clean the darn things. Got all but one looking good using brillo and elbow grease. ANy ideas how to do this a little easier? I tried the magic eraser and nada.

just buy new ones, there not that expensive

I want to buy new ones but I'm having trouble finding ones that fit

The ones for my stove are very expensive. Brillo and elbow grease work better than anything else I've tried, but it takes forever and is a major pain.

I have been known to spray them with oven cleaner, put them in a plastic bag, and let them sit for a while.

Usually the stuff just falls right off.

Make sure the oven cleaner doesn't ruin your grates though.

Thank you so much for this tip. I tried it on one of them and let it sit for a few hours, OMG, easy as pie. Really worked great.

I just saw this in Reader's Digest in the doctor's waiting room.

Boil them in a NON-ALUMINUM pot with baking soda and it should loosen the grime. I haven't tried it yet, but I will.
