We have PS for Boma one evening...what is this storytelling? Do you have to be a guest of the hotel to enjoy it?

Thanks!!

Hi - we stayed at AKL last year and did the storytelling one night. I don't think that you have to be a guest at the hotel since it's quite informal but alot of fun. Basically, you sit around the fire pit at Arusha Rock and one of the CM's who are from Africa tells you a typical African story. Then you can ask questions about Africa and it's fascinating. Our storyteller was a trainer of elephants plus took people on safari in Victoria Falls. Definitely a highlight of our stay and worth checking out - if you've got kids they'll love it.
p.s. - Boma is fantastic, enjoy!!

We are staying at AKL and was wondering what time the storytelling takes place? Are there any other activities?

Thanks
Jodi

Thanks Normma...do you recall the time or should I contact the hotel directly?

My kids are 2 (almost 3), 5 and 8, so I think they'd enjoy it. Hopefully, they will eat at Boma too...not an adventuresome group!

We were there in late June, and story telling was at 6:30 pm.
It is just like the OP said, you sit around the firepit and a CM tells a story. Our CM was Melaine and she was great -- super animated while telling the story of and Uncle and Nephew Wolf. DD was captivated.

I don't believe you have to be a guest. They also play games in the evening, but they were too hard for my DD (she's 6). It involved using a book to identify animals, and we had just gotten there that evening, so we were not familiar with most of the not-so-obvious ones.

For those of you who have eaten at Boma and done the story telling. What time did you make your PS for?

We are going in Dec. and have never eaten at Boma or done the story telling so don't really know what to expect.

Thanks.

The storytelling was at 6:30 when we were there but you might want to call and double check. I believe it was about a half an hour give or take a few minutes. Therefore you can either PS prior to the storytelling if you want an early meal or at 7:15 or later. I love the AKL and hope you do too!

I also forgot to mention that my DH who is NOT an adventurous eater loved Boma. The food isn't too exotic for most tastes and there's lots to choose from. Plus the zebra domes alone are worth going for. I plan on going in September because I loved it so much.;)
