I'm finally back from a long journey, and wanted to talk about the GCH breakfast.

First, if you want to see Chip and Dale, go BEFORE 10:30am. C 'n D come out on the half hour (the :30) and 10:30 is actually too late, according to the hostess and server.

Second, if you want to order off the menu, rather than the buffet, go BEFORE 11am. 11 is when the menu-ordering stops. Disney Dining may or may not know this, but the hostess said they NEVER tell people that, even though it's a long-standing policy.

Third, if you're vegetarian, they have veggie sausage patties on their buffet (which helped make up for the disappointment of not being able to order huevos rancheros from the menu).

Oh, and Fourth....if they say "would you like Mickey waffles or pancakes, or both?" and you say "yes, both", they will bring you normal pancakes and Mickey waffles...I'm just glad DS wasn't there to hear, and assume like I did "Mickey pancakes", and he was happy with normal pancakes...russa frussa, darned English language with its vagueness....

Hope that helps.

Oh, and by the way, any AP holders wanting to get the Chip and Dale last quarter of '07 pins (buy $30 of food at certain restaurants, get a pin when you use your AP discount), they are all out of them. The manager said she called all the restaurants and no one had any. BUMMER.

Other than that, the food was very good, the coffee (despite being Nescafe) was VERY good, and DS had much fun meeting Koda, Kenai, and Meeko (even though we haven't much of a clue as to whom Meeko is!).

(meeko = pocahontas)

i appreciate the tips. i'll be eating at storytellers through ABD though so no control over the time but good to know about C&D timing.

Bumber, thanks for that information. I always go close to first seating, so have never had any of the issues you faced.

BTW, I have read on another board that Storytellers, Napa Rose, and a couple other of the high end restaurants don't serve Nescacrap. I forget the exact name, but it's some blend out of New Orleans or the South.

This is really good information. Thanks Bumbershoot. :thumbsup2

My experience kind of confirms this....we stopped by Storyteller's "30 min. before the character bfast ends". (thought we would do a buffet so we would have one BIG meal prior to hopping on a plane at 5pm).

But it was really winding down & there were just a couple of characters visible (so we passed). We ended up having a wonderful meal 30 minutes later at the Italian Rest. across from Bugs Life. (for half the price) & it was 68 degrees & sunny. That is a great place to relax on a pretty day & the food was pretty good too.

I think on our next trip, i want to do a Character Meal at the Plaza (is that it....the one on the HUB) at 10:30ish am. (after touring for 2 1/2 hours). Someone had said that Cruella & Hook sometimes make appearances.....my kind of characters.

And DangerMouse....we need some confirmation on that coffee. "New Orleans" / Southern coffee is great. (love it when you can stick a spoon in it & it stands straight up because it's so strong).

I can taste the chickory coffee from Cafe du Monde right now just thinking about it.

.

yes, minnie & friends at the plaza inn. i ate there last year, saw hook, minnie, chip, dale, tigger, eeyore, rafiki, fairy godmother...

This is a very good idea. My kids and I are the type of people who like to work up an appetite before a big buffet and this worked out really well. Hook was there the day we went!

The server told me VERY specifically that it was nescafe, though that it's a special restaurant blend that you can't get elsewhere. She said that no one ever believes that it's Nescafe, but that it absolutely is. According to her. :)

next oct when i go again i was thinking of checking out diffrent meals, this was one place i was going to look at. what charcters are usely there/

Was there on Nov 5th and Dec 10th and saw the same characters Bumbershoot mentioned so I think C and D plus the bears and racoon are the usuals.

Oh and Pluto. We saw him both times.

I have seen (on two different visits):

Chip, Dale, Baloo, Timon, Meeko, Pinnochio, Kenai and Koda. I've read that Brer Bear makes appearances as well.

They try to keep it "woodland creatures." I wondered why Pinnochio was there on our last visit, and then remembered that he IS made of wood, so technically I guess he's a "woodland creature". :rotfl:
