Storyteller: the end to the premature (or late) birthday celebrations?

Badges were what we earned in Brownies and Girl Guides. They were little embroidered fabric triangles that we had to sew onto our sleeve. I loved knots and knife work. Gosh, I miss those days. All girls should know how to tie knots and handle a knife while dressed in skirt & pantyhose. And wearing buster browns. Never mess with a Brownie :P
Fellow former Girl Scout here - used to love earning my badges, and having a well-decorated sash! :) (Our badges were more circular or oval, and also had to be sewn on, but were worn on a green sash we wore over our shoulders, across the front, like a Miss America sash).

Heidi, I apologize if I offended you or humiliated or hurt you in any way.

This is NEVER my intent.

I was not being sarcastic or snarky when I thanked you for monitoring the thread.

I always assume that people know who I am and how I talk because of the podcast and more than once I have been told that my humor doesn't always translate into the written word.

Again...please forgive me for upsetting you in any way.

I would never do that intentionally and I'm sorry that it happened un-intentionally.
Thank you very much, Kevin, your apology means a lot to me. And I took some time to think about it, but I would miss all the content, this small section of the boards that is the only place I post, and my fellow posters WAY too much to step out now. So - I will go back to admiring and being grateful to you, my fellow posters, and The Team as before!!

And we are grateful to you and all you bring to this little corner of the interwebs as well

I must say -this is exactly why the internet(world wide web) was created in the first place. A forum to voice your opinions and questions, getting feedback whether positive or negative ...making us all better informed as a result. Not necessarily right or wrong.

Kudos to Pete and his team. It's still working...

I will be celebrating my birthday at Disney a few weeks before the actual date. I don't care if someone else thinks it is strange or that they would never consider doing it themselves. I am in the camp of why do you let something like this bother you.

Early happy birthday, have a magical trip.

Disney used to give out these buttons for birthdays. I have one that I wore *on* my birthday.

Back when the button said "Today is my birthday" the pixie dust was more prevalent than the last time my DD wore a button in 2013. I believed Disney changed it when the whole "Celebrate Everything" campaign a few years ago. Personally, I don't understand adults "celebrating" their birthday more than a month on either side of the actual date. Everyone has a birthday every year and I just don't get the need to "celebrate" it months and months after or before the fact. I think it's a pixie dust and attention grab and is pretty silly. I have felt embarrassed wishing someone a "happy birthday" to only have them tell me that it was really months ago. I so felt stupid I now just assume the majority of adults are "Storytellers" and I only wish happy birthday to children.

That all being said, Disney wants you to "celebrate" your birthday at a Disney park. They want you to make an excuse to open up your pocket book to Mickey's four fingered grab. Since that's what Disney wants, then people should feel free to knock themselves out and "celebrate" that day of their birth that was in the last 183 days :cake:.

Odd that the person would freely admit that. If I was wearing a birthday button and someone said happy birthday to me, I would just say thank you and move on. If I didn't want everyone wishing me a happy birthday, I wouldn't wear the button.

If someone wishes me a happy birthday on a day OTHER than my actual birthday, I punch them right in the mouth....whether at Disney World or elsewhere.

That's what I do when someone wishes me a happy birthday on my actual birthday.
It they do it on a day other than my actual birthday, I just pretend I don't speak English.

Don't disrespect me like that.

And this is exactly why I stopped wishing adults "happy birthday" ... you never know what will happen :scared:.

I love my birthday and you all are free to wish me "Happy Birthday" every single day if you so choose. But you don't have to. That's ok too. Like Corey, I'm just happy to be here.

Maybe I will just get a "Happy Birthday Christy" tattoo that LOOKS like a button. The current/old buttons. Not the new ones. Old ones are better.

I'm a genius.

Happy Birthday, Christy!

Ooh, they should make "I'm just happy to be here" buttons!

And Happy Birthday!
