Store gift cards purchased in Canada and used in US?

Just wondering about buying certain gift cards here in Canada prior to leaving for Florida (for saving on exchange) that can be used in the US (such as Starbucks, Walmart, possible restaurants??). Has anyone done this? Thanks!

I used my Starbucks app to pay in the Orlando airport. I also used Disney gift cards I bought here to pay for souvenirs and food at Disney while I was there (and in advance to pay for my room and tickets).

We were in California last week and used both Starbucks and Disney gift cards that were bought in Canada and were in Canadian dollars.

I’ve used my Starbucks app to pay for my coffee addiction. And I always use GC to load my app. Seems that they just took the exchange rate of the day.
