Well I do not do Halloween , Thanksgiving is not even in my head and christmas is not even thought about. Its been hard for me for about 4 yrs now. Jo

Sigh. My son has been asking me for about 3 weeks now, "When can we put up the Christmas Tree?". My husband told him that he (DH) will help him (DS) put it up ___THE DAY AFTER HALLOWEEN___


Now I'm in a bind, because DH promised.

I can't! My new tree will be in on Friday & I'm making DH put it up this weekend. I'm having surgery in couple of days so it'll give me something pretty to look at & I can decorate it while I'm recuperating.

Normally DH is forbidden to even mention Christmas before Halloween but this year I made an exception because my new tree is so pretty.

Yes, I am nuts.

I have a friend who does this! She saves her Christmas tree out back (a real one, not fake!) and by now it has little to no needles left, so she brings it in and decorates it for Halloween!

With more and more people wanting to get their Christmas shopping/baking/crafting done early I don't have a problem with having Christmas stuff in the stores. For the most part I just ignore the Christmas stuff. The madness only happens if you let it.

There was this beautiful mansion on St. Charles in New Orleans that left their huge tree up all year. The decorations were obviously custom made as they were large enough to identify from just driving by.

Jazz Fest

I'm not sure what they did in the summer as I always avoided New Orleans in the summer.

I don't know if they moved or just got too old to do it, but it's not there anymore.

Buying presents is one thing. Decorating, listening to Christmas music, putting up the tree is another.

I think if I had my house decorated and started listening to Christmas music now I'd be ready for it to be over before Thanksgiving.
