Stop Making Me Laugh Or I'll Pee My Pants! Go Back! I Lost My Shoe! Trip Report!

I have heard alot of bad stuff about Chef Mickeys too. We went for Breakfast in 2007. It was fun, but the food wasn;t anything special. not really good, but not awful either, but for the price it should've been better.

Just coming out of lurkdom to say that I agree with you jenseib............for the money Chef Mickey's should be a lot better. We first went there 4 years ago for my oldest granddaughter's bd and we absolutely loved it! Went there in May 2008 and it was fine but just not as special as it should be.

We found the characters to be very interactive BUT we do have a bunch of little kids in our party.:yay:

Looking forward to your Cirque report, Lisa!

Hi Lisa! Great update! I use to be a pretty big fan of Chef Mickey, but I think it went downhill for some reason. The last time I was there was a few years ago with DH. The characters didn't really interact with us much either. I actually notice that alot in Disney. If you don't have little kids, they don't pay attention to you as much. That is the only think I do not like about Disney! Hope the rest of this night was better for you!!!

I didn't do any real research on Chef Mickey's before I booked a reservation there. I guess I just thought that, since it was so popular, it would be a decent meal.

The characters at the Garden Grill interacted with us A LOT! I have pictures coming up in our next Epcot day.

How have you been feeling lately?

can't wait to hear about the Cirque. my kids use to go to all the ones that were put on at the Beau Rivage before Katrinia. the nice thing about all the shows are each one is very different for the other.

I love the dessert pics of Hunter and Lacey...the Mickey ear truffles just have to make you smile...I hope they tasted good

BTW you are not to first to report Chef Mickey the same exact way you just did!

I hope to get the next installment up soon. I have to go to a wedding tomorrow and I hope to take Mama to do a little Disney shopping.

The desserts were not a whole lot better than the actual meal but we did find a couple that we liked.

I really wished I had done some more research on Chef Mickey's before we went. I usually look at pictures of the food on the Disney Food Picture thread but I didn't this time.

Thanks for coming along and for commenting. I wish the meal had been better. Heck, I just wish I hadn't been slip sliding around on the food on the floor.

Sorry you had a bad experience at Chef Mickeys. We have been the past 2 years for breakfast River loves it. It wasn't dirty when we were there maybe because it was the beginning of the day instead of the end? I think we will try somewhere new this year but they have to have Mickey waffles or River won't eat:laughing: I was thinking of Donalds safari breakfast but I don't know if they have the waffles. Can't wait to hear about Cirque I've never been.

Just wanted to say hi!! I know I'm late to the game, but I just found your TR and am already hooked!

It will take me a LOOONG time to get through over 180 pages though :cool1:

I'm so sorry you had a bad experience at Chef Mickey's!!! I've heard a few people say that they thought it was going downhill...I think a few of my family members will go into mourning if we have that type of experience when we are there!!! Now, I will grant you that we've never had stellar service from the wait staff there, but we usually don't notice it because of the character interaction. We've enjoyed the food, and it must not have been dirty because my MIL always notices that (I'm not as observant as I should be, I admit). I hope that when we go in June, it will be ok!

Can't wait to hear about Cirque!

They have Mickey Waffles at Crystal Palace, and they have the added benefit of getting into the park early if you have an early reservation!! :cool1: We loved it in 2008, and will be going back in June. You might want to look into it!

Thankyou we will look into Crystal Palace.:)

I just had to post that I totally agree with you about the Contemp Restort. It's just not our cup of tea. One afternoon during our trip it was raining. No not raining, pouring! We decided to get dry by taking the bus to the CR and have lunch at their QS place just so we could get a look at the resort as we had never been inside (other then traveling through it on the monorail). First, it was packed! Probably due to the weather. You actually order from a menu screen and then the order is sent to the kitchen and they prepare it(it being your entree). Once your order is placed then you are suppose to gather your drink and dessert (Dining Plan here) then go pay for your meal. I think we got a recipt that showed what we had ordered. The CM gives you a pager for when your food is ready to be picked up. I felt like such a dork because we didn't realize about the pager and just stood near the window waiting to pick up our food. Got told rather harshly to go pay for it first. EXCUSE ME! Haven't ordered here before. Then try to find a seat. Holly Moly! My family of four ended up at a 2 person table because that was all that was available. Thankfully the people beside us at the 4 person table offered it to us as they were leaving. There were people just standing around waiting for tables to open up.

Any desire I ever had to stay at the CR is long gone.

Hi Lisa!

Great Updates!! Looks like the arcade was hit!! Glad you were able to use both vouchers!!:thumbsup2

Ahh...sorry you had such a bad experience at Chef Mickey's.:sad2: It does have alot of mixed reviews. We have been lucky every time we have went and never had any issues. I will say that we much prefer breakfast, as we found very little variety and the food seemed very bland at dinner. (For us...I guess it's the characters and the sundae bar that keeps us going back;)...oh and the fact the boys always request it.)

Can't wait to hear about Cirque du Soleil!popcorn::

I so wish we were breakfast people as I have heard good things about the Chef Mickey's breakfasts.

Hello there! I'm glad that you came over to read my report. We have a lot of fun on here. Hope you've made it through a lot of the report so far.

I won't be eating at Chef Mickey's again any time soon. I hope that your meal there is lots better than our's was.

Thankyou we will look into Crystal Palace.:)

Crystal Palace is really really good. Well, dinner is really good. I've heard positive things about breakfast too!

Isn't is sad that a resort that is supposed to be one of the best of the best has downright rude castmembers working there. I know that there are rude CMs at every resort but we encountered a few there.

I, too, have no desire to stay there at all......like I could ever afford the rates anyway.:lmao:

The arcade was fun and I was glad to see that we could use both vouchers. Hunter could play games forever!

Sadly, we were super disappointed in Chef Mickey's. It was one of the meals that we were looking forward to.

So, I realized last night that I skipped our 25th anniversary day somehow. I went back through my pictures and couldn't find them. I guess these were some that were lost.

Since I don't have pictures, it's hard for me to remember exactly what we did that day. And, I can't find my notes so I don't have much help. Of course, I remember the date....it was August 10th. I just don't remember what we did that morning....hum...don't you guys dare say I'm getting old and that's why I can't remember. Oh gosh! I'm not getting old am I? :scared1:

I made John and I dinner reservations to eat at the Grand Floridian Cafe. We both like steaks and there are steaks on the menu. I made dinner reservations for Lacey and Hunter to eat at Planet Hollywood. We were to meet up at DisneyQuest and play a few games after we had eaten.

The kids hopped on the bus for Downtown Disney and John and I hopped on the Magic Kingdom bus. We left the resort in plenty of time to reach the Grand Floridian. But, when we got to the Magic Kingdom, for some reason, it took forever for the Resort monorail to come. I don't like being late and I was beginning to stress a little because we were still waiting on the monorail and it was our ADR time. Dang it!

Finally, the monorail pulled in and then it seemed to take forever for it to leave the station. Doesn't that darn driver know that we are late for our anniversary dinner? Shut those doors and take off already!

We had never been to the Grand Floridian before and had no idea where in the heck we were going. We walked in the resort and it was breath taking. Absolutely beautiful. But, I felt like Clark Griswold when Ellen asked him didn't he want to look at the Grand Canyon. You remember? Clark put his arm around Ellen, looked a few seconds and took off towards the car. I felt like that. I wanted to look but didn't have time.

I asked the first castmember I saw where we needed to go and she kindly pointed the way. We found it easily and were soon standing at the podium to check in. There was just one couple in front of us and then we were motioned up. I gave them our name and apologized that we were nearly 20 minutes late. The castmember just laughed and said "Oh I see it's your anniversary. No wonder you're late. You were probably dawdling in your room." She laughed as did a couple of other castmembers standing nearby. I looked at John and could tell that he was about to say something that would probably make me blush so I just squeezed his hand hard and he kept his mouth shut. :sad2:

We were shown to our table and our waitress came quickly to take our drink order and brought our bread. The bread was okay. We like our rolls soft and these had a hard outside. The inside was good and soft so we ate that. When we finished, they looked like little chipmunks had eaten them.

While we were sampling the rolls, our waitress took our order and it was out in about 15 minutes or so. We like to order something different so we can try out several things on the menu. I ordered the New York strip with fingerling potatoes and beans. John ordered the ribeye which, at that time, came with au gratin potatoes and beans.

The steaks were both delicious. We didn't care for the beans too much. They were a bit undercooked for our liking. We like our beans cooked all the way through....almost like they melt in your mouth when you bite them. They had a good flavor though. I just wished they were cooked a little more and the string on the outside had been removed. John liked my fingerling potatoes better than his au gratin potatoes so we ate off each other's plates.

Our waitress was attentive and made sure that our drinks were refilled. She also asked if we wanted more bread and butter but we told her no. Oh, I forgot to mention that there was a fresh pretty rose on our table when we arrived.

When it came time to order desserts, we didn't have any idea what we wanted. Our waitress suggested that we get the dessert sampler. You can order this as a dessert for two and still use the dining plan so that's what we did. The desserts were very good and John wished he had more of the Tiramisu since he is a coffee lover. On the dessert plate was a little easel with a chocolate painting on it. I told John that I was going to try to save it. I put it in a napkin that I had in my purse and placed it gently in the bottom. I didn't figure it'd stay together but I wanted to at least try.

On our way out of the Grand Floridian, I told John that I had to stop and tinkle before we went to Downtown Disney. Even the public bathrooms at the Grand Floridian are pretty. I have to admit that I took a picture but, alas, it's floating out there in "Lisa's lost pictures" nowhere land.

We called the kids as soon as we got out of the Grand Floridian and told them that we were on our way to Downtown Disney. They were in Disney Quest playing games. They said they thought that it was about to close but weren't sure. We told them to keep playing and we'd call them when we got there.

Okay, so I guess I'll have to admit it...I must be getting old 'cause I can't remember how the heck we got to Downtown Disney. I'm thinking we went back to the resort and changed clothes and then caught a bus there. Yes, that's exactly what we did. So, maybe I'm not getting old 'cause I just remembered. :thumbsup2

By the time we got to Downtown Disney and called the kids, Disney Quest was, in fact, closing down for the night. I thought that they stayed open later than that but I guess not since it was a weeknight. The kids waited outside Disney Quest until we got there. We walked around a little while and then made our way over to the bus stop. Had I known that we wouldn't make it before they closed, we would have just told the kids to come back to the resort and we'd have stayed there. Oh well, live and learn.

Up next: I found some Chef Mickey pictures. I promise...I'll post Cirque review soon!

I guess I am just being lazy today but I don't want to go back and see what pictures I have already posted of our dinner at Chef Mickey's. So, I'm just going to post the ones that I know I didn't post and even some of the ones that I am not sure if I posted or not.

Walking from the Magic Kingdom to the Contemporary. I have no idea what the heck Hunter is doing with his mouth:

The monorail was stopped right above us. It stayed there the entire time it took us to walk from the Magic Kingdom to the Contemporary:

I took these while we were waiting and they didn't turn out so good:

Oh no!! Cheif Mickey's is on my list to try to get ADRs.. Sorry you had such a not so good time there!!

It's just so hard to get my children to pose for pictures! They are so shy and timid and hardly ever come out of their shell. :rotfl2:

From looking at these pictures, you might think...what the heck was she saying when she said the character interaction wasn't good. It wasn't so great. I had to snap fast in order to get pictures. Most times, the characters would just pose and immediately leave. Guess that's what happens when you don't have little kids in your group.

I tried to get a picture of the monorail coming through the building but didn't it didn't turn out so good:

A few pictures of our plates. Again, nothing was super good in our opinion. Just ate enough to fill us up.

Up next: I really really promise....Cirque.

Hey!! I just found your report and I have a lot of catching up to do! :)

We loved Grand Floridian Cafe:thumbsup2. We got the dessert sampler too and yes it was yummy. We had booked a second ADR for there when we had to leave and come home a day early. I have an ADR at GFC in May and I can't wait!!!

I wanted to do the walk from the MK to the Contemporary last year but we were running so late that we had to just go and park at the Contemp. parking lot, then we got lost trying to drive over to the MK lot and ended up at the kennels but at least I got a good pic of a Pluto plant outside (my mind just went blank I can't think of what their called).
I had to go back and look at your pics so I could find the blue gum:laughing:
Waiting for more!
