Stop Making Me Laugh Or I'll Pee My Pants! Go Back! I Lost My Shoe! Trip Report!

Sorry I was MIA today; Ashton and I went to the disney store for the halloween party...I posted pics on my PTR...

are you referring to the Causeway?!? -- Danny drives it 8 times a week and we had to go that way today!! I don't mind the causeway it is the 310 that I don't like it goes waaayyyyy up high and curves at the same time...I just feel like we are going to fall off...the causeway always has pelicans flying and I just love at certain times of the day how the sun reflects off the lake...did you know that that is the bridge at the end of the movie in "Haunted Mansion"!?!
I can take the bridges its the three lane highways that I HATE!!! I have to drive in the left or right lane CANNOT DO THE CENTER!

Lisa~ good luck on the hunt!!!!! that sounds like alot of fun for you and John...Dayne used to go through growth spurts like Hunter...in the sixth grade was the funniest...Dayne has always been waaayyyyy underweight (still is 6' and only 138#'s) anyway sixth grade he gained sooo much weight I have a picture of him and it looks nothing like him; right after that he started to grow and has not stopped! although he has slowed down I think he may finally stop and he went and bought some protein powder he mixes with ice cream to try and gain weight....here Danny & I need to lose big time wt and he is trying to gain wt.:rotfl2:

:wave2:

Hunter has never really been self conscious until the last year. It's because he has hit that semi-chubby stage. We've told him he'll have another growth spurt and won't be chubby anymore. John was always a chubby boy. He didn't start losing his weight until he was in 10th grade. Now, he's chubby again but that's because he loves bread and sweets!

I have caught up and will patiently wait for the next installment. :rolleyes1 Good luck on the scavenger hunt a dimond ring would go good with those EPCOT pearls.;)

The boss will be gone for a while this afternoon. I am hoping that I can get another installment up even if it's a short one. He is gone to the bank now...that's why I was able to post the last installment.;)

Good morning Lisa. The donuts have arrived. Good thing. Another is that he is here already and has had so many people drop off this morning that he gets to go deliver them instead of me having to do it. He is excited about that. I told him last night about you having a store close and he said I know they are all over down there. He went to LSU and is actually from around Monroe.

I'm glad that the donuts have arrived and since it's raining there, I'm glad you don't have to go deliver them.:thumbsup2

Great update! Can't wait for more!:wizard:

The boss is supposed to be out of town late this afternoon so this mice will play a/k/a post another update.:thumbsup2

great update!! sounds relaxing...and you got rich in the process :yay: can't beat that Disney magic pixiedust:

can't wait to hear about Whispering Canyon as that is the only sit down dinner I know I want to do next year, so far!!! popcorn::

It was very relaxing. I don't usually do that on vacation....I usually like to go!

Austin is not a picky eater unless it is red. Won't eat red food at all.

So exciting you young people (squirts). Maybe you should download a map and have all the special places marked so they will be easier to find.

Love your lovely day. Love the peace and quiet of the beach area. Bad camera.

Ginny

No red? That's odd.

I am going to be doing a lot of research on downtown Hot Springs. The hunt starts at the convention center and only lasts about an hour because the after party is just an hour and a half after start time.

The camera was driving me nuts! I realized last night that there were a lot of pictures lost. All this time, I was thinking it wasn't too many so I haven't taken the camera to the camera shop to see if they can retrieve the pictures. That's now on my official list of things I need to do.

I forgot to mention that it's raining AGAIN and there's a flash flood watch. The Ouachita River is still rising. Our office is right beside the river. Just a road, a parking lot and a levee separates us. It's not a good sign when the State workers start coming and raising the flood wall.

The donuts have been delivered and the guy from Nashville just called to confirm. What a nice man. I hate that 310 bridge. I'll never forget the first time I was on it. It was storming and raining so hard and I swear that bridge was swaying.

Red? Who knows. They say that genius' don't eat red. I've only known 2 other people in my life that didn't eat red and they were true genius'. I don't think Austin fits in that category. I think it goes back to daycare and the lady fed them spaghettios everyday. He eats pizza without red sauce too. Rarely he will put catsup on something.

I think that is why you enjoyed your restful day so much. You allowed yourself to just do whatever instead of have to do.

Lucky you having the boss be gone. I treasure those peacefull moments.

Ginny

Great update! That is SO funny that you guys found that much change in the sand!! :rotfl:
I'm with Ginny- I say get away from the river!!!!

That was sweet of the guy to call and tell you.

I'm right there with ya on the bridges. Don't like 'em at all. My sister is really scared of bridges. Every time we used to cross the Mississippi River at Vicksburg, she would lay down in the seat.

Hunter likes ketchup but just on fries and sometimes on fried catfish. He loves pizza and the pizza roll thingies. He doesn't like spaghetti or lasagna or anything with sauce on it. He's not much of a red eater now that I think about it.

My boss is going to pick up his aunt at the airport in Jackson, Mississippi. Since it's raining and there's construction going on in Jackson, I've been trying my best to shove... I mean encourage....him to leave the office early. Also, a barge hit the Vicksburg bridge this morning and it has slowed traffic down too.

I say evacuate

Don't I wish! I just took two pictures out my office window of the wall the wall they are raising. Looks like they've stopped for a while. Probably because it's raining.:lmao: That's the way our State runs.....put up flood walls because of the threat of flooding but stop working because it's raining. We are soooo backwards!

Here are the pictures I took of the flood walls they started raising. It's in panels. Don't know why they will raise a panel, then skip a panel or two. I don't question how Louisiana operates any more.

Looking out my window just a little to the right:

Looking out mywindow to the left. Sorry for the column being in the way and the cars too. You can barely see two panels up behind the cars:

When I was a kid we lived in Columbia, Mo. My dad's office was in Jefferson City and you had to cross the MO river. They used to lay strips on bridges that had grooves so when it iced and snowed your car could get traction. They laid them lenghthwise instead of crosswise on this bridge so as you were driving the tires would get in them and swerve constantly. I too was in the floorboard hiding. I always thought I would fall and drown. As I got older I decided I wouldn't drown cause I'm a really good swimmer. Not thinking the fall would kill me but I could swim away. I'm an idiot I know for a fact.

See, Hunter is a genius too. Just like Austin.

If I saw that going on across the street I would be gone.

Love the report so far! Can't wait to hear about Whispering Canyon.. One of our faves....

John yelled at us to "Look!". The sailboat had turned over and the father and daughter were floating by the boat. A lifeguard boat came over and plucked them out of the lake and turned the boat back upright. Hunter walked nearer to the water's edge to watch and looked down and found a penny. And then another one. He told me to come look and as I was walking down, I kicked up a dime. John asked what we were doing and I told him we had found 12 cents. He said, "shoot, I bet I could reach down right now and find lost money." He scooped up a great big handful of sand and darned if he didn't find a quarter! Of course, this started us on a mission. We walked all around the beach and came away with $1.52 all in change. We were rich!

We took our beach towels and our booty and headed back to our room to get ready for our dinner at the Whispering Canyon. This was a new restaurant to us and we were looking forward to it.

***Up next: Whispering Canyon!

That is so cool that you found that much money. I love it when I find spare change. I get a kick out of it. :)

Yikes! That is scary about the river flooding. :scared1: Drop in & let us know you're ok when you can!

I can remember the last time I was in NO(2004). We were at the river front watching the street shows and I can remember thinking how I would hate being there if it flooded. Boy I sure miss going to NO. I loved going to Jax Brewery and the Square, going out on the President and going to the Market Place. I have some masks hanging on the wall next to me that I bought at the Market. I sure hope everything is going to be OK with ya'll. Flooding is scary because you don't know just how bad it is going to be. I will keep ya'll in my prayers.

Swimming and lazing in the hammocks at CBR sounds like so much fun--I can hardly wait till I'm there in January! Of course it may be a little chilly to swim, but we'll see. I know the pools are heated, but I hate getting out into the "cold" air after warm water. We'll probably rent a canoe and go on the lake.

Since you mentioned the refillable mugs for coffee, that made me think of a question. My DH is a big coffee drinker too. If he wants a couple cups in the morning and we're there for 6 nights, is it better to get the mug? I know there's coffee in the room but I wasn't sure if that was "complimentary" or if you pay per pot like the mini-bar items.

I like really strong, dark coffee every so often as a treat, but only in very small quantities or decaf because I bounce off the walls enough as it is without caffeine!

I made the mistake of drinking a full cup of really strong and yummy Jamaican blue mountain coffee one morning when we were in Jamaica, and I was a nervous Nellie all day until I could get ahold of a drink with some rum to counter the effects!

Ok, I caught up again (it's fall break, so I have plenty of DIS time :goodvibes). I need to read the part about you relaxing at CBR to my family (I'm at my in-laws, who are going with us in June) - it sounds wonderful! All of our trips (at least the ones I've had in this decade) have only been 5 days (including our arrival day). We're spending seven whole days, not counting travel, next summer - surely we'll have some time to chill out!

I hope you're still safe and dry. It's raining here again, but nothing like that. I hope things calm down soon, weather-wise!

Great update! We loved CBR...the beaches are so relaxing. We wanted to rent a sailboat or the paddle boats but never did...we'll have to try that on our next trip! Can't wait to hear what you thought of WCC!

fun update. I can't wait to hear about WCC. We ate there in 2008 and really liked it. I love Wilderness Lodge! I want to stay there someday. Better go by that lottery ticket, so I can! LOL!
I hope the rain stopped for you and you didn't have to boat home!

Good Morning! Lisa,
it turned out to be a beautiful day!!!! hope you don't have to be in the office all day today!! :sunny:
looking forward to your WC report (if you remember so far it is the only sit down dinner I have chosen as a def for next year)!! they may need to just leave the flood walls up with all the rain and snow north of us our rivers are going to really swell!!! Danny made a comment about it Saturday when we were passing through New Orleans...

Have a wonderful weekend!! suppose to be a beauty :sunny:

You can see a little bit of one of the bridges that cross the river on the right in the pictures. The middle of that bridge is just metal grating. I hate driving over the middle part.....you wiggle, giggle all over the place.

Neat pictures, Lisa. Is that your car with the Minnie Head on the antenna?

Good eye! That is indeed my Minnie antenna topper.

I had hoped to get an installment up yesterday afternoon while the boss was gone but didn't. I promise to get it up later today.

I hardly go anywhere that I don't find a few cents. When I was Disney shopping this Summer, I went to Old Navy and bought several pairs of their shorts when they were on for $5.00. As Hunter and I were walking through the mall, I found a quarter, then another quarter, then 3 pennies and just as I rounded the corner to the food court, I found $5.00! Paid for one pair of the shorts with just a walk around the mall.:woohoo:
