Stop Making Me Laugh Or I'll Pee My Pants! Go Back! I Lost My Shoe! Trip Report!

I am so sorry brother Gary sat beside you. I just hung up the phone with him giving him his scolding. He is so worse than John or Don ever thought of being. We were eating dinner the Sunday before Christmas and between one glass of wine to dessert he was asleep at the table. Austin sat next to him and woke him up. It was so funny. We try not to take him out in public.

Your mama amazes me with the things she notices. Way to go mama. And yes we old folks know the motions to YMCA. Do you kids think you invented that stuff?

Great update, Lisa. Mark and I really do need to go to Branson one of these days.

And to you and Ginny--big THANK YOUS and BIG  for the birthday cards which arrived today. You gals are just the sweetest and I'm so glad I've gotten to know you.

Aaahhh, don't you just love when you get seated around lovely people? A couple of months ago I took my boyfriend to go see Alice Cooper in concert. We had the cheap seats, third balcony. Luckily, it was mostly empty, so whenever someone sat in front of us and blocked our view, we moved. (there's a point to this story, I promise) Well, it just so happened that we had to move three times before the show even started. The opening band comes on, we've never heard of them, but they're not half bad. Well, except for the wardrobe. Anyway, this middle-aged man with hair almost down to his butt comes up and of course, sits in the seats right in front of us. He and his...girlfriend? wife? sister? both have beers in their hand, but Tay and I decide to stick it out. Then he gets up, does the rock out sign, and starts head banging. We exchange mildly amused glances, and look to see where more empty seats are. And then the guy takes his shirt off to continue head banging. I think we left smoke in the seats we moved so fast.

The funny thing was, about halfway through the concert, the girl and guy get up and leave, and the girl comes back alone and stays by herself until the end. We couldn't figure out what had happened, but we didn't necessarily miss ole Head Banger anyway.
Sooo......yeah, there's my little anecdote about people you sit near. Just thought I'd share.

Tell Gary to stay away from the Grand Country Music Hall while I am visiting.

Mama surprises me sometimes and noticing the ab guy was one of those times. She thinks Sam Shepherd is a stuf muffin. I think Lacey and Hunter were very surprised to see all of those seniors doing the YMCA signs.

You really should visit Branson at least once. There's a lot to see and do.

I was so scared that your card wouldn't get to you on time and then, darn it, it got there early. Oh well, at least you received it.

Oh my gracious! I think I'd have been moving too. Some people just never grow up. I wonder what happened to Mr. Headbanger?

My DH would tell you that the whole reason for your problem at dinner that night was that you went to Wendy's. He can't stand the place - he swears that when he was in high school, they stopped at one after a swim meet and got a green hotdog. :scared: He does everything he can to avoid them now.

Sounds like the show was pretty good. It reminded me of the ones we used to see when we would visit my grandparents in Myrtle Beach!

Great photos of the sky. That one kind of "wave" cloud is like nothing I have ever seen. I wish I could remember more about clouds from my meteorology course, but that was over 10 years ago so there is NO chance of that happening. :rotfl: I think my brain shoots out old stuff as I pick up new information.
:rotfl2: I had to crack up about the guy sitting next to you sleeping. John does that, but he is a toothpick & doesn't snore- well, when he sleeps sitting up he doesn't snore. ;) That stinks that you got back to the hotel & realized they messed up your order. I really hate it when that happens.
The photos from Branson & of the clouds were all taken with your new camera, right? They are really great- that camera takes nice photos.

Good morning Lisa. What exciting things did you get for your Birthday. I hope you are celebrating all week. You are supposed to you know. And every year you can add a day to the week. Before long you are celebrating a whole year at a time. I love it. It is my excuse for having dessert.

Don't work too hard. I'm working hard to not work hard. Get my drift?

Have a good day.

Ginny

Lisa, I hope you had a wonderful birthday.

And I like Ginny's idea that for every year you get an extra day to celebrate. So I wonder how many days I get to celebrate for mine this year?

I hope the family did something special for you yesterday.

This year I got a month. So make sure by the time you youngins hit 60 you are up to a month. I am so old.:rotfl2:

Lisa and Kathy. I am celebrating your birthdays. I got my computer fixed. New AC adaptor and stopped at Steak N Shake for burger and fries. I did forgo dessert.

:woohoo::woohoo:

And I LOVE Steak & Shake -- they have my absolute FAVORITE fries in the world. Maybe Mark and I will go there tomorrow on my birthday night and then go to PF Changs over the weekend and a movie.

Now that is an excellent plan. I have to eat everything I like cause next Tuesday Sheri and I are hitting weight watchers again. Don and Mike don't go to the meetings but we all do it together. Sheri only has 15 pounds to go, I of course have many more. We do the old core method (they don't offer it anymore) and it really works well for us.

I only like 2 kinds of fries, SnS and homecuts with the skin on. It's the desserts that are my downfall. Real good for a diabetic.:lmao:

I think Don and I will go see Blind Side one night. Aust is not going to Tennessee with Sheri and family. He and his friends are having some kind of party. They are not sneak drinkers thank goodness. But they do like a cigar once in a while. So I know I won't do much New Years eve in case something is needed. Besides, Don goes to bed at 9 anyway.

I usually get the baked potato and side salad when ordering from Wendy's. I'm not a huge fan of Wendy's but it'll do.

A green hotdog! I think I'd have to stay away for a while too.

I thought the sky pictures were cool. I took them while driving which I know I should not have done but I did.

The guy next to me was both hilarious and irritating. Usually when my husband starts snoring, I'll nudge him but this guy wasn't my husband. I did accidentally bump his leg when I bent down to scratch my foot.:rolleyes1

I like my new camera. It gets irritating because it has that delayed reaction like most new cameras do. But, I like it.

Ginny

I will be celebrating all the way up until tomorrow morning. That's when Lacey is leaving again. I know I'll be sad. But, I think we'll go somewhere this weekend and make the blahs go away. We probably won't go far.....just to Shreveport or something on Saturday. Who knows?

Lisa, I hope you had a wonderful birthday.

I did have a good birthday. Mama cooked dinner for me and the kids and John bought a birthday cake for me. John gave me some really pretty blue stone Mickey shaped earrings that I had asked for. Lacey bought me a pink LSU ball cap. I don't wear ball caps much but I intend to wear this one.

I'm in love with Ginny's extended birthday celebrations. I think we should both celebrate at least until January 2, 2010.

I have never eaten at Steak N Shake. We don't have one around here. Lacey said she's eaten there and really liked it.

John and I have decided we are going to do the whole "healthy" New Year's resolution. I am not overweight by any means but my tummy and thighs could use some toning up. John is overweight and really does need to lose some weight. His family all have big stomachs. His goal is to get rid of his. The exercise bike has already come in quite handy. John's been riding it 6 miles a night and I have been riding 3 miles. I would ride more but I'm too busy trying to get supper cooked, clothes washed, etc.

I usually have a New Year's Eve party but haven't planned one this year. My nieces and nephews come as well as my sisters and Mother. My mother's cousins and their grown kids usually come too but they have been sick and one is having surgery today. I kick everybody out by 11:00 p.m. or so. They can ring in the new year at their house. I don't know what I am going to do this year. Probably just shoot a few fireworks with Hunter and John and then go to bed. But, I may change my mind and call my niece and ask her to bring her little hellions over.

The boss came in the office in the foulest of moods. Yesterday too. I'm pretty much ignoring him or even better, acting like he is in the best mood ever. Easier to deal with him that way.

We have two deadlines....one that is due this afternoon and one that is due first thing tomorrow morning. The boss had originally said we were going to close at Noon on Wednesday. Now, I have no idea when we are closing. The courthouse is closing tomorrow at Noon so I see no need for us to be here when we can't even file pleadings or call the Judge's office. I'll go have a little chit chat with him once I get today's deadline out. He'll be in a better mood then.

I also have a lot of my Silver Dollar City pictures uploaded to photobucket and am ready to write an installment. I'll be back in a little while to do that.

I have the bike and treadmill right in my bedroom. I plan to take the clothes off the handle and put them away so I can walk and ride. Too darn cold to walk outside.

We love to shoot fireworks on New Years or the gun whatever we have. Pretty much all our neighbors do it so nobody gets in trouble.

Now that my computer is fixed I am going to do Christmas pics too. You must have a chat with the boss and see what his deal is. Could just be the end of the year blues. My boss does it too. I'm so glad he takes the week off.

After eating the wrong food from Wendy's we realized just how tired we were. We ate a few sweets from the snack bag and went to bed. Siliver Dollar City didn't open until Noon which meant we could sleep a little later the next morning. Our Grand Country package included a breakfast buffet for each of us. None of us are big breakfast eaters but it was part of the package.

By 8:00 a.m., we were all awake. Sleep late my foot! Why is it that when you actually have a day when it's okay to sleep late, you can't sleep late? Your eyes pop open and you can't go back to sleep? Why?

Anyway, we were out the door by 9:00 a.m. and walked over to the restaurant. When we walked out, we were really surprised at the change in the temperature. Gone were the blowing winds and the sun was shining brightly. We all hoped that it would be a nice warm day.

The restaurant wasn't real busy. We were seated within 5 minutes of arrival. The buffet was nice and clean and they kept putting out new food. They had fresh fruit, cereals (nothing sweet though), breakfast meats, eggs, waffles, toast, yogurts, and an omelet bar. You picked out the fixins and gave them to the chef who make the actual omelet.

Of course, John got a phone call in the middle of the meal. It was one of our friends who was at Lowe's. He forgot what size sanding belts his sander needed and he could not reach his wife. He knew that John had a sander just like it and wondered if John knew what size belts he needed. He apologized when he found out we were in Branson. They finished up the conversation in a short time.

The kids went back to the bar to get a couple of apples and oranges. They each ate the apple and brought the oranges with them back to the room. Come on....ya'll all know that you've done that before too.;)

We still had a little time to spare before heading out to Silver Dollar City so we decided to look around in the little shops a bit more. I snuck into one of them and bought Lacey the cutest little umbrella. It's small and has a crochet trim around the edges. It's in a small bag with handles that looks like a little purse. Super cute and only $10.00.

Mama uses only wooden ornaments on her Christmas tree. And, everywhere we go, she looks for a new wooden ornament. This time, she found two but only bought one of them. After wandering around a while, we figured we better get ready to go to Silver Dollar City.

We made a potty break and a package drop off in the room and then loaded into the van. I was the designated driver this trip. I am okay with that. But, there's this one great big curve that you have to go around to go to Silver Dollar City. When you get near the curve, you can see a long way and it's a big drop. I hate it. It makes me nervous as all get out. I told everybody before I even started up the car that I would beat the crap out of them if they made fun of me on the drive to Silver Dollar City. They knew I was serious so they didn't make fun of me.

Lacey did take a few pictures while driving down the main strip. They aren't so great but they are pictures nonetheless. I have no clue what she was trying to take a picture of in the first picture:

The next two pictures are of the Hollywood Wax Museum:

SANY1456-Copy2.jpg

SANY1457-Copy2.jpg

The Titanic museum. We wanted to go there but just didn't have the time:

SANY1458-Copy2.jpg

SANY1459-Copy2.jpg

I so wanted to get some good pictures of the drive to Silver Dollar City but I knew I couldn't take them. Combination of "I'm afraid of heights" and "my Mama doesn't like for me to take pictures and drive at the same time".

John and the kids were goofing around in the backseat laughing about the stupid Hot Rod movie. I did get Lacey to hush long enough to take a few crappy pictures.

SANY1460-Copy.jpg

Ya'll already know that we're crazy so I'll tell you one of the crazy things that we were laughing about when Lacey took this picture:

SANY1461.jpg

There were mountains and woods along both sides of the road. There were also four lanes of traffic. Right along the edge of the road were two smooshed raccoons. One was facing one direction and the other was facing the other direction. John said the raccoons were probably out on the town late last night and couldn't decided which way to go when cars started coming and they were both smooshed. Okay, so it's not that funny now but it was really funny when we were all together.:sad2:

A picture as we were turning onto the road to Silver Dollar City:

Silver Dollar City sign:

SANY1463.jpg

At Silver Dollar City, you can have choose four types of parking. 1) Handicap; 2) Valet; 3) free; 4) Preferred. We chose preferred and paid about $13.00 to park. We still had to walk a pretty good ways to the main gate even with preferred parking.

*****Gotta stop. Boss just barked something.

Don't you just hate when you are in a groove and you get interrupted. I was so engrossed and now your boss has the gall to interfere. Men...I just don't get them. :rotfl2:

Looking forward to the next update.

I was too so waiting for the arrival to Steal your Dollar City. Then boom. She's gone. I was going to see if there were any changes. I haven't been in 3 years. They even have new rides. I decided to work for about 10 minutes. That was all I could stand. So I'm back waiting for more
