Stone Crab Claws?

Hello! We are heading to WDW the 1st week in May. Last time in FLA, on our honeymoon 8 years ago (same week), we fell in love with Stone Crab Claws while on Key West (actual Key West not OKW ). Anyone know of any WDW restaraunts that might serve these gems? (flying fish?) DH would be so thrilled (and I could stop his chatter about driving from WDW to Key West to have them again!) Thanks!

I believe Fulton's Crabhouse has them on the menu... this is the restaurant on the Paddlewheeler at DownTown Disney.

Maybe some other posters will know more...

To be honest it depends on whether or not they are in season, not sure when that it is apart from I know that they're available in October and November.

If you got to Fultons they may even ship them in, but they certainly are on the menu when in season.

I believe my wife ordered them at the Coral Reef last August.
They are indeed seasonal, however.

Official Season for Florida Stone Crab is: October 15 - May 15.

How big (or small) is the portion of stone crabs that you get at Fultons? My son (11) and I were thinking of having dinner at Fultons our last evening at Disney in December. I was hoping that we could split an appetizer and an entree of stone crabs. I'm just not sure if that would be enough. Neither one of us are big eaters.

I do, however, love stone crabs. I usually visit Key West every year and it is so much fun pulling the traps and taking those stone crabs home to eat them (much cheaper too!).

I hope you do mean the claws. It is illegal in the State of FL to take the whole crab. Usually only one claw is removed.

Thanks for replies! Looks like we will have to hit Fultons when we go to DD. (was planning on doing Pucks) I am a little concerned because I haven't read great thing about Fultons', but to get the Claws - we will certainly risk it!!!

Yes, Madcoco, we do only take the claw!!! I am aware that it is illegal to take the crab. I apologize for the confusion.

No apology needed. Sorry. My apology, if that may have sounded harsh. That wasn't the intention. Some folks are unaware. There are a few shady fishermen out there, that sell whole stone crabs or claws from the females to unsuspecting people.

I know what you mean!! You always need to watch out for those little fishing boats, too!! We've actually had them steal the claws from our traps before. Unfortunately, we saw them from a distance and did not catch up with them!!

The portion size was huge. With appetizers and the claws you will both be very full.
