Wondering how old is too old for a stroller? How old or big was your child in a stroller?

My child was 5 our last trip and spent most of the days in the park with a stroller. I plan to let her stay in one until I know she'll walk around the park without begging to be carried because her feet hurt. :teeth:

My DD4 will be in a stroller for our upcoming trip. She can't walk that far, even at the local mall or walking around our neighborhood.

My daughter was still fitting in the rental strollers at 7. We had a double (our youngest was 3 at the time), and my oldest rode in it when she was tired of walking. Also, if we wanted to walk fast, she could ride and we could hoof it to the next attraction.

I a different, my youngest is 2 and we don't take a stroller for the magic kingdom. Everything is so close together it seems more of a pain to keep backtracking to get the darn thing.

I take one for epcot because there is more distance between things there.

Also by 2 1/2 we are not using the stroller much anywhere anymore.

My DS sat in a stroller (this was the year he was in Kindergarten) for our first trip. When we went the next year...he walked everywhere. Once they get past this age, or maybe 1st grade, I feel they should be able to walk. When my DS got tired, we just slowed down.

We found that getting around the park WITHOUT the stroller, was SO MUCH easier & oh my goodness, we made better time without it!

I also wanted to add we do disney at a very relaxed pace. There is never a rush for us. If someone is going at it commando style there needs will be different.

I also have a 15yo and 7yo so I have more experience then one child.

Our last trip two years ago my DD's were 9,6,and5 they all took turn in the stroller on those long days at the parks. I think we only rented a stroller for two days out of the five. It was nice to have a place to sit whenever they wanted it, I even sat in it a few times just to relax those tired feet. :)
Your never to old for a stroller at Disney! :rotfl:

We put my DD6 in a stroller at Epcot and Animal Kingdom. It sure helped us get around the WS a lot faster! At AK, we ended up leaving around noon, so it wasn't quite as beneficial. However, we had ADRs at Marrakesh that night and we were running late. Once I remembered that we had a voucher for a stroller, we loaded DD up and made it to our ADRs without a problem. Normally I would say 6 is too old for a stroller. However, after days at WDW, you've got to give the kiddos' feet some rest!

Our 2 youngest were 6 and 3 last time we went. We got a double stroller each day, and when they started to tire and slow down they would hop in. We will do the same for this trip and they will be 8 and 5.
I was a little leary about it at first, but it was so much easier to move quickly when we wanted to. :)

Our DS will be 6 next year when we go again and I think he will still ned that stroller. I find its easier to keep tabs on him as he likes to run ahead sometimes and is also not afraid to let us know when "he can't walk anymore".

I say whatever works for you!

Last trip kids were 6 and 3 and I brought our strollers from home. It was a blessing. Just too much walking for little feet.

Next trip kids will be turning 4 and 7....I don't think the 7yo can squeeze into our umbrella stroller for him anymore. But he's still not ready to tackle AK or EPCOT w/out some help. Sooo I'm trying to decide do I just rent a double and use if for dd4 and ds as needed....or do I bring ours from home (which has a nice little basket but is still collapsible easily for the busses) for dd and rent 1 for him? :confused3

Double rental: Plus side-- Only 1 thing to worry about. And dd may think it's cooler to be in a disney stroller than her own. ie. if she see ds in it she might be jealous if she can't ride too. BUT it will be harder navigating and if we split up ds has to walk. Also no stroller for dd at hotel, bus lines at the end of the day, etc. Also costs $15/day.

Single rental w/ dd in our stroller: Benefit of more comfy stroller for dd. She'll be more likely to nap in it too. Will ds fit in a single?

Several mths to ponder this one....

We went last June and dd5 and ds8 actually took turns riding in the double stroller. (we can't push it with both of them in it, lol) we are going back this december and I am only taking a single. DD, now 6, probably won't ride much, but its great for holding the cooler, umbrellas, etc.....

This summer was the first time we ever went to the zoo without a stroller and we actually spent one hour LONGER than if we would have had it.

My oldest is going to be 6 in September. Would I put her in the stroller in our everyday lives- no way! But at Disney that is another story! I know she'll be able to hang in longer in the stroller and less complaining- that's worth it any day! My little one is 3.5. I was debating whether to rent strollers- but I think I'd rather spend that $100 a week on something else. I bring our trusty Target special stroller (lightweight with little shade canopy and great basket underneath to store stuff) and then take an umbrella stroller folded up in the storage area. Then when my big one is tired I just unfold and go.

Last September our kids were 6 1/2 and 8. That was the cut off for us. We did not get a stroller for them. They did fine , but my daughter 6 1/2 always mentioned how much she missed the stroller.

My personal experience has be that my kids at 6 still use the stroller if we are in the parks all day, but by 7, they have the stamina to make it through.

We dont plan to use one for DS6 this year. Three weeks of Disney walking is a lot though and Im concerned he wont make it without whingeing the whole time!
However my 6 year old looks 10... so its tricky...

When we went 2 years ago, my dd's were 4 and 8 and i got the double stroller. The oldest would walk some, but it was much quicker for us to have her in the stroller at AK and EP. Plus when she was tired she loved it. I asked her today if she still wanted me to get a double stroller and she said yes. She is the same size as our 6 year old. I figure when it is raining or she is tired she will use it. They aren't really that hard to deal with.

Last trip DD was 7. She really liked having a stroller. We did as much as possible without one, but in July she just couldnt make it.

I don't think people realize how much shorter their kid's legs are than theirs. For every step you take your kid has to take at least 2. So if you think you're tired at the end of a long summer day, imagine if you had to walk twice as much!

I rent a stroller as long as she fits and still wants to ride in one. Heck if I fit it a stroller, I'd ride.

BTW DD is really petite. She's 8 and wear size 6x clothing.

If you are talking aboutWDW, it depends on the child. But I think by the time children reach the 2nd grade they probably will not want to be in a stroller regardless of tiredness. :sunny:
