Last time I was at WDW it was still ailien incounter before they tamed it down. Here is my question. How scarry is it. I have a ds 5 who is afraid of nothing but bugs, and dm who is 55 who is scared of her own shadow. Should we avoid this ride, just let those we know can handle it, ride, or all aboard??

Any input would be helpful.

Thanks

It is not scary at all. My son does not go on any thrill rides and he loves this one. It puts you a big room, Stitch comes out and escapes. It gets dark for a few minutes, while Stitch "runs around"; "burps"....
It is not scary at all. I actually think it is a bit boring......
hope that helps

The attraction wasn't terribly scary. It's just completely dark. You're locked into your seat with this shoulder restraint (kinda like a rollercoaster, but more uncomfortable). That is the scariest part because you think it's going to actually do something or be terrifying, so your DM might get herself worked up. We really did not enjoy the ride. We did the baby swap and my older kids really didn't even want to go back on it so DH could see it. We don't plan to do the attraction again unless we're traveling with someone else who wants to. If there's no line and you want to try it you should, but I wouldn't put it on your list of "must-sees".

My almost 5 year old was terrified of that. I thought he would love it because Stitch is his favorite character. He was screaming and flipping out so bad a CM had to come and help me get him out of there.
I do have to say that he has recently developed a fear of the unknown, or of things he isn't in control of, which is definitely the reason he hated it.

My daughter was 6 when we went on it and she was scared. She cried the whole time. I thought it was very boring

I was really surprised how much I hated it!
I took DS 4 because he begged. (I had read mixed reviews). He was terrified. I can't say I enjoyed it all that much.
He didn't really get the storyline of it, he just understood it was really dark and then Stitch burped and then splashed him with water. The poor kid was shaking and screaming and I felt horrible for bringing him.
I could hold his hand but we were both restrained.
There were lots of freaking out kids.
Honestly, DS was not afraid of anything else. To compare he loved Haunted Mansion and Snow White's Scary Ride - he jumped on both of them, but wasn't scared.
When we were leaving he clung to me until I picked him up and carried him out.
I really don't recommend it.

i actually hated the stitch ride..it was boring and discusting

I agree, there is nothing fun about Stich ride, or seat. You just sit in a seat with Stich running around, a bit of air hits your neck, the seat harness serves no purpose but hurts the shoulders...

Unless grandson drags me in i will not go in there. I did not go in the last version that was scarry, and I can be happy missing this one too.

my mother had her mouth open during the one "smell effect" and was nauseus all day after because of the taste she got.

My nearly five year old HATED it, so much so she won't even hold my DS's stitch toy now and as it was one of the first rides we did she was really skitish about getting on any ride that looked dark after that :(

My nearly six year old (has ASD) loves stitch but panicked when it went entirely dark and there's not a great deal you can do (harnessed into the seat so no way to help/hold him through it.)

I was actually really, really disappointed in this ride- my kids LOVE stitch, ds5 especially (my ASD kid) and he didn't like that stitch would scare him, IMO it concentrated too much on "dark" stitch when it could be a great small kid ride.

Stitch was the most disgusting and very dissapointing ride I have ever been on! Stitch escapes and he burps in your face(very nasty). We hated it and will never go on it again. I would rather waste my time going on Its a Small world over and over again than to go on that again. My DS loves Stitch but said he didn't like it. It wasn't very scary just gross. Not very funny either.

This is the worst ride at Disney. I would rather sit through the hall of presidents again then go on this ride. It was bad when it was alien encounter and it is still bad.

We were at Disney in September and my DD5 did not like Stitch's Great Escape. It was the only ride/attraction she did not like. It was loud and dark and that was all it took. She laughed all the way through the Haunted Mansion.

They've completely ruined the ride by making it stitch's great escape. It's not longer remotely scary. I briefly gets dark, but that's about it. We actually avoid this attraction now because it's so lame.

My ds (now 5) loves Stitch, and loves this attraction. I think he was 3-1/2 or 4 when he did it the first time. I agree with those that say it's not very exciting, or even boring. The part with the obnoxious smell is pretty easy to avoid - Stitch is munching on something, then he burps. If you're prepared, you can just hold your breath for a few seconds and most of the smell dissipates quickly. Also, the restraint does come down onto your shoulders and stops automatically. If you sit up really straight when it's dropping, you can actually make it stop so when you relax, it's not touching you at all. Basically, don't slouch. My ds is tall for his age, and the restraint still stops well above his shoulders at the lowest point, so little kids shouldn't be bothered too much by it.

My dd's loved it...I know now when the SMELL is gonna happen so I hold my breath, but the first time I was on it I had no clue and I about threw up. It is not pleasant!!!

We skipped it two years ago based on the bad reviews. Then my kids' friends told them they were missing out, so we took them the next time--both DD4 and DD10 enjoyed it, neither found it scary, and they did it again this year.

I let their grandmother take them this time...
