Stitch's Great Escape...A Mom and Me Birthday Celebration! *7/26 Link to new PTR*

Jay

I hope you are having a magical time! I also hope you might consider sharing
some of your adventures in a trip report

We are home and we had such a wonderful wet time. I may well have to do a trip report. There is so much to tell. The surprise couldn't have worked any better. On my son-in-law's birthday he chose Epcot and they gave him 6 fast passes for all 9 of us. We rode lots.

Still enjoying your last report and now that we have been I can place all the places you were and better imagine the fun you had. My youngest grandson was picked as a Padawan for the Jedi training. He was in absolute heaven. And it only took us 2 times trying.

That Stitch cracks me up. He has the cutest personality. Ready for more now.
Ginny

i'm first AGAIN! i swear i'm not stalking you...

THREE?! You poor dear.

That actually does kind of sound like a nice day! i imagine that with your household full of males, there's rarely a slowdown like that!

seriously...your kids just kill me.
Thanks for reading. I am impressed by your promptness. ;) Ha ha.

Stitch is a pretty sweet little guy and I am very happy to see the sort of boy he has become and to get glimpses of the amazing man he will one day be.

I love your trip reports! Your family is beautiful, thoughtful and so loving. You are a fabulous mother and deserve every hug, kiss and loving look from those precious children of yours. It is people like you who make this world a better, happier and more loving world.
:flower3: Wow, thank you! I am so thankful for the boys/dh. I know just how very blessed I am to have such great guys in my life. However, I am nothing more than almost every other mom, I just love them with all my heart and try to do my best for/by them. I doubt most any mom does less than that. Although, I do admit to loving each and every snuggle, kiss and hug. I adore my family. Nothing makes me happier than enjoying time with any/all of them. They are my smile and my heart.

Looking at the wonderful Magic Kingdom photos, it makes me so excited to go back! DD and I had to put off our trip for a year (so sad but my health is just too awful to go) but we'll be going back in Feb, 2011.

Stitch's delightful smile says it all!!
WHERE is that DD of yours? I haven't 'seen' her in forever. Is she busy giving Beast a hard time? Has she been taken captive by the lizards in your yard? Did she eat too much school bread? ;) HOW ARE YOU FEELING? I hope it's much better. You need to keep me up to date with what is going on. You are missed!

WOW you guys were like Super riders that morning!! :thumbsup2

But BOOO to the rude couple that ran into Stitch and didn't so much as stop to check on him! :headache: oooh I'd have had to go off on them for that! how inconsiderate! That ride will still be there in 15 seconds it would have taken you to stop by and say sorry for runnign a kid over! :headache:
In the couple's defense, I have no clue if the bride even knew that they had bumped him and the groom did yell back "Sorry, Squirt"....however, I think it was a good reminder to Stitch and I not to 'power walk' without being careful of those around us. There is always someone smaller or something sticking out that you could force someone into. I just hope the bride slowed it down once the groom told her what had happened. Who knows if they ever did, we didn't see them again the rest of the day (which may have been a good thing ;) ).

Once again I can't believe the ride count. Just like Epcot! I can't wait to see what you have planned for the evening. I have a quick question. The brown sparkle WDW shirt you wore on the Epcot day, where did you get it? I love that shirt.
The shirt was black (the photos sort of changed the hue of it) and I found it in the gift shop at the CSR. I saw it in numerous park shops as well. I really loved the shirts I found this vacation.

Our ride tally for the entire trip was most impressive (at least to me). It's much easier to move from ride to ride with only two people to herd, stop for bathroom breaks, input into the decision of what to do next.

Wow what a day of rides, you fitted so many in :thumbsup2

How nice of the CM to give Stitch a special straw after the rude man bumped him!
Rides became our focus. Well, rides and snacks. HA HA. Seriously, Stitch became the snacking machine. Maybe cause he wanted to do most of his eating on the run (to the next ride).

The CM was so nice. It was another example of a Disney CM doing somehthing way above and beyond. Disney really has cornered the market on kind/caring CMs. :thumbsup2

Sorry about the rude couple :sad2:. Looks like you had a great day at MK. the pics are really nice too. You got to so much done. I love the Anchors away sandwich from CHH, also they have good iced there too. We ate there last week :goodvibes.
OH LAST WEEK!!! I wish I had spent last week there as well. ;) I hope you had a great time! Our MK time was a lot of fun. I always love riding Splash and being able to take it on multiple times was great!:thumbsup2

Another great update. Three Caballeros! I love them! Panchito is my favorite! :lovestruc There is just not enough with those guys.

What in the world was so important for that newlywed couple that they had to run over a kid for gosh sakes!? That ticks me off whenever I see or hear about that! That CM was pretty cool too. Small gestures sometimes make great impressions!

Talk about a busy day! Stitch sounds like a real self-starter too. I've never been on Tom Sawyer's Island. Looks very interesting and fun!

I'm bringing my laptop to WDW when we go in a couple of days so I will be checking for updates even there!
I don't think they meant to run him over...but they did. ;) Lucky for us, Stitch is tough and he just bounced off of the sign. Ha ha ha. I just hope they became more aware of those around them. I know I have bumped into other people before as well....hopefully, I never 'didn't notice' and kept plowing through. Also, I would like to think I never just 'plow through' but then again, I am sure those I have bumped into in the past might disagree. ;) Sometimes, I do really wonder about those who rush and plow past people especially near park opening. I know it's good to get where you are going without delay, but 60 seconds tacked on to make sure you don't run someone down in your haste doesn't seem like a real sacrifice.

Small gestures and kindenesses really do make such a big impact. I am so thankful for all of the CMs we have ever encountered who took the time to do something (even if it was just share a joke or a smile) for us. They are truly what makes Disney special!

HAVE FUN AT WDW!! Lucky duck! :) Enjoy yourself and soak up the magic!:wizard: If you have time, check out Tom Sawyer's Island and make sure you find the secret escape tunnel in the fort! ;) I think the island is a whole lot of good 'old fashioned' fun.

Great updates!

Wow what a way to celebrate a birthday, crepes and all. All the pictures of the both of you are fabulous. The conversation between you and Stitch about the crepes is priceless!

I can't believe how much you got to do at MK! I bet Stitch was in heaven the whole time.
We were both in heaven. I loved doing Disney so differently than we normally do. It was a lot of fun to see things through his eyes. ANd those crepes...oh those crepes...I wish I was digging into one now.:thumbsup2

Another 98% fun day! Sorry about the 2% - people get so focused on their own fun they don't think to watch out for others :(
It really was a lot of fun to enjoy MK with Stitch. He's such a fun little guy!

Just wanted to let ya know I'm still here and reading along. Your trip just sounds so great. Your day in the Magic Kingdom was wonderful, well minus the crazy couple. Looking forward to the rest.
:thumbsup2 Thanks for sticking with me. I am really sorry that I have gotten so busy. I don't get around to updating this trip report half as much as I would like. I guess I just have to find an extra hour or two on the clock. ;) I would put them to good DIS use!

Jay - What a great trip!!!! It's been awhile since I've commented but I've read this trip report in the last 12 hours or so and am hoping to go catch up mid-trip from your TR last year to finish reading!

I'm always amazed by how many special events you are able to accomplish for your family - very special things that they will surely treasure the rest of their lives!!!!

Cannot believe how big all of your boys are getting!!!! Stitch and my oldest were born only a couple of weeks apart - turning 8 seems like such a big year for some reason - they really start growing up around this time don't they???

Well, I hope to stay onboard more in the coming months - I will be home full time once again this summer now that school is over and we now have #3 on the way (big surprise! big excitement) so I will be a stay at home mommy for a few more years yet! Watching Buzz getting so big already is telling me to really enjoy this pregnancy as well as that infancy - it goes by so fast!

Keep writing - I'll keep reading every time!!! :cool1:
YIPEE!!! I have missed you! It's great to 'see' you back! CONGRATULATIONS on your newest little sweetie-to-be! Are the girls excited?

The whole surprise thing is my 'new' obsession. I love planning special things. It's so much fun to watch someone experience something special you have planned just for them. I am addicted to those special surprised smiles. :cloud9:

Seen any funny signs lately? ;)

What a fun and BUSY morning! I love that Stitch woke you up all ready to go. :rotfl:
I still chuckle thinking of his eager little face leaning over mine. I must have been really tired not to hear him climbing out of bed or getting ready. Then again, the sun was not yet up in the sky when he started to get ready. I think he was just a tad bit excited to get to MK! :lmao:

Jay, I am so glad you had a new update! I love the before the park pictures of Stitch and then the after the park pictures, I think he wore himself out having too much fun! :thumbsup2
Don't you just love to "work the fastpasses"? It's fun when you get them working for you and you can then pass some along... very sweet! :goodvibes
Once again I am impressed with another CM story, very nice of the food cart CM to come over to Stitch and offer him a straw and drink. I'm sorry he was crashed into. :sad2: And then a birthday cookie from another CM!
Hummm, what are the plans for the rest of the day? Can't wait to see!
We were both so worn out. That seemed to be the theme of our vacation, rest up, play hard, rest up again. ;)

I do love to 'work the fastpasses'! Why people chose to stand in line vs. grabbing a little ticket is beyond me. I am not a patient person. Lines are not my friend. ;)

That birthday cookie was great for him. He was smiling so big and so happy about it. You would have thought they rolled out a three tiered cake complete with sparklers on top with the way his smile just wouldn't quit.

I loved your MK installment! I'll be there on my birthday in October and I just can't wait!!
Oh you will have so much fun! What a great time of year to be at WDW and combine that with a birthday at WDW and you have the makings of an awesome time! I wish my birthday didn't fall right smack dab in the middle of one of the busiest times of the year. :rolleyes1 That's okay though, I am totally enjoying my family's birthday trips to WDW! :goodvibes

Another fun-filled day for you and Stitch! I just love all the great pictures you are getting of the two of you! How nice to spend quality time with just one kid - it's so hard to find that time in "real life". :goodvibes
It is really hard to find a way to carve out prolonged one on one time in real life. My house full of boys keeps us hopping almost all day every day. While I love enjoying time with all of them (or some combination of them), the time alone is amazing too. Being so rare, I really did appreciate my time alone with Stitch and I am looking very much forward to spending that special one on one time with the other boys as well!

Finally got a chance to catch up....and I want to say I am really really considering one/one trips with each of my boys. It just sounds wonderful and great memory making time together!!!
The memories and time were wonderful! I would encourage anyone who has the chance to do sneak away with each of their kids alone to do it! It was a great treat for both of us. I think what I enjoyed most of all was being able to 'see' things through his eyes. I also really loved being able to let him enjoy a vacation at his own pace, with his own style. It was fun to focus on making him smile.:cloud9:

I'm all caught up over here! Got back from my Disney cruise last night, I had a fabulous time. I just wanted to thank you as your trip reports are part of the reason I was so inspired to go on the cruise. :goodvibes
YEA! I am so glad you enjoyed your cruise! Please make sure to post a link to your trip report! I am anxious to read about your fun! Glad your travels were safe and thanks for reading!

Uh oh, "wonderful, wet time". Sounds like someone got to know rain a little too well. ;) Please do post a link if you write a trip report. I for one would enjoy reading it!

How cute about the Jedi training. That is something we have on our list of 'hope to do' in the near future.

Welcome back and thanks for reading!

Jay it sounds like a great day in the MK. I love you TR and I love how sweet that little boy of yours is!

Thank you for the pep talk. I'm working on my photo pass pics now so maybe I will get one started after next week. Relay for life is next Friday nite and being a one year survivor I will participate this year. Family Reunion is June 25-28. So inbetween I will get it started for sure. We did get some good photos and with 9 people involved it isn't easy. I wish the ones of me on the roller coasters were better so I can prove I actually did it. That is so outside my box. No one believes me at all.

The best laid plans do sometimes need tweaking. I had planned on us taking a quick break and then heading over to the Boardwalk for an evening of festive fun and tasty treats. In reality, we were both pretty tired from our days of ride marathons so we chose to enjoy some low key fun at our own resort. Thank goodness for us that the CSR has so much to offer. So we packed up a pool bag (refillable mugs, my Kindle, sunscreen and chapstick) and planned to head over and enjoy the Dig Site. Both the pool and playground areas. Along the way, we were delayed at the bridge by a new 'friend' of ours. I will let the pictures introduce our 'friend' to you. And really, how cute is he!

An close up.

wdwmarch09160.jpg

I was really excited to see my first wild gator at WDW! I look every trip and have never seen one until now. Now, if I would have stumbled upon him right next to a path or something, I would have been a bit more worried, but he was safely unable to get to where we were (on the bridge) so I was nothing but excited and snap happy when we did see him. Although we continued to look for our new friend, this was the only time we saw him during our stay. Both Stitch and I were really happy to have seen him. Stitch 'named' him "Crocigator". :rotfl:

The CSR is a beautiful resort!
wdwmarch09161.jpg

A quick peek at the playground before heading over to the pool area.
wdwmarch09166.jpg

wdwmarch09163.jpg

wdwmarch09167.jpg

The playground at the CSR is so well themed! It's the best WDW resort playground we have had the pleasure of enjoying! The entire Dig Site area is very well themed. Take a look at the outside of the arcade!
wdwmarch09164.jpg

You can just see the sandpit in the foreground. Stitch had fun digging and building there.
wdwmarch09165.jpg

But not right at that moment, first we wanted to have some watery fun.
wdwmarch09168.jpg

Great theme once again!
wdwmarch09170.jpg

The slide comes out 'through' a bush! Fun!
wdwmarch09175.jpg

Here comes Stitch!
wdwmarch09176.jpg

A spitting idol.
wdwmarch09178.jpg

wdwmarch09192.jpg

wdwmarch09197.jpg

And the spitting jaguar perched above the water slide. The chance to slide down, into the pool, while a jaguar spit on him is the entire reason Stitch chose this resort. :lmao: The workings of a little boy's mind crack me up!
wdwmarch09179.jpg

The bush the slide comes out through is actually an elevated bridge. You can look straight down at those sliding under it.
wdwmarch09180.jpg

In this shot you can see the jaguar 'spitting' (photo taken by Stitch)

Hello!

Pure upside-down-under-the-water bliss.
wdwmarch09190.jpg

One of my favorite pictures...EVER! I get choked up just looking at it. It reminds me of all of the great memories from the entire trip. I can still feel his sweet little hand holding on to mine. Ahhh...I love my Stitch!

Laid back and relaxing pool side.

The ground was covered in the 'kid safe' rubber stuff. And neat designs were scattered throughout.
wdwmarch09229.jpg

After snapping tons of pictures, I retired to a table with a shady umbrella, kicked my feet up and enjoyed reading a book on my Kindle. **An aside, I LOVE MY KINDLE 2! It's the best thing I have ever splurged on for myself. I finished up a book while reading poolside at the CSR and was able to wirelessly purchase the next book in the series and instantly download it while sipping iced tea out of my refillable mug.**

After about an hour of Stitch playing (he was playing with two little boys almost the entire time and afterward told me that he wished they would have been his brothers...awww) and me reading, we started back to our room. We were hopeful to find Crocigator still lurking near the bridge, but search as we might, we could not find him. A few pictures snapped on our walk back.

wdwmarch09233.jpg

wdwmarch09235.jpg

The fountains in the Casistas section are beautiful.
wdwmarch09234.jpg

I really don't think this is 'normal' at a moderate, but every night, our room was turned down upon our return. It was a really nice 'special touch' (especially for a deluxe club level loving girl like me).
wdwmarch09237.jpg

wdwmarch09238.jpg

Our 'happy' corner.
wdwandhomewintero9234.jpg

After we changed, we made our way out to find some dinner. Tonight (as many of the nights before) we chose to eat at the Pepper Market. I snapped a picture of the exterior 'halls' to show just how pretty it was to walk outside (even within the building compound). I know I imagined something like a bare Motel 6 cracked sidewalk next to an oil stained parking lot. :rotfl: It was nothing like that. ;)
wdwandhomewintero9235.jpg

A happy Stitch uses a Pooh coloring sheet to draw teeth figures. YES, he is still obsessed with drawing teeth...maybe he's going to be a dentist? Ha ha ha. If anyone remembers, he spent a lot of time drawing them on our last trip while we at at the Kona Cafe.
wdwandhomewintero9237.jpg

Some of the tastiest pizza I have ever had. Shrimp, pesto and goat cheese....OH MY GOODNESS, I wish I was popping a piece in my mouth right about now! I LOVED this pizza. I don't give it 'only' two thumbs up, I am raising all of my fingers as far as they can go.
wdwandhomewintero9239.jpg

After our delicious meal, we took the long way to our room and slowly strolled around the lake to get there. Walking with his little hand in mine, I felt like a very lucky lady to have such a sweet, funny, special little guy holding on so tight. Even though I remember my feet were very tired and would have felt better up, I also remember just how great it felt when his little hand squeezed mine. :cloud9:

Very shortly we once again found ourselves flopped on to our beds, watching the Disney Channel and talking to our guys back home. I remember smiling as I feel asleep that night and thinking of all of the wonderful things we had done and all of the special memories we were making. Life is sweet!

UP NEXT: Another MK day, taking on what we skipped the first day.

TO BE CONTINUED...

I can't believe you got a gator on camera. I have to show my DH. He is a reptile lover. He wondered if there were any around and kept watching for them over at POR.

CSR is a beautiful place. You have some wonderful shots of everything. Only at WDW do you get that theme stuff.

An unusual pizza combination. It looked very good. I do love shrimp.

Jay what a great update! One thing I love about all of your trip reports is how you always recognize the necessity of changing your plans and simply enjoying your surroundings! Your trip report has now convinced me that Coronado springs is the next resort we will be staying in after this september trip. :thumbsup2 It just looks so great!

BTW - I know those are coronado refillable mugs - are all of the mugs this year that nice bigger size or just at CSR??? They are cool!

I love the picture of you guys holding hands. Something so prescious about a little hand held lovingly by a child. I love that you thought to take the picture!

BTW, love the Kindle - I have never seen those - I think I now know what to ask for this Christmas!

Lastly, I love how you said you remember going to sleep smiling that night...isn't that the best feeling??? So peaceful and a moment so full of joy...

Thanks for taking us along - I so enjoyed this update!

Wow those pictures of CSR are amazing! The playground and the pool look like so much fun. Its so cute that Stitch was wishing his brothers were there to play with. As a parent, don't you love those moments when you realize that your children truly like spending time together? And not just because they are stuck with each other! Its sounds like your kids are the best of friends, so you know you are doing something right! Now as long as they don't all gang up on you!:upsidedow

:scared1: Can't believe you saw a gator. I am a a huge chicken and probably would have freaked out. :rotfl: You did get some really nice shots of him.

The pool area at CSR is so nice, hard to believe it is a mod. :thumbsup2

I'd have FREAKED at the sight of the gator! Not where i would like him to be!

Your trip just sounds so magical! I would give anything for that kind of special time with my kids!

What a great relaxing day. That gator was scary....I bet Stitch was amazed!

Awesome way to relax after your amazing park day. I am impressed with the themeing of the resort. Well done.
Sweet picture of the hands together. :flower3: I love pictures like that, it sort of freezes time. :goodvibes

I can't believe I am so far behind. I loved the MK update. Magic Kingdom is my favorite park. :lovestruc The tuna sandwich from Columbia Harbor House looked so good.

I will have to show my 12 year old the alligator pic. She is determined to see an alligator but has yet to see one. We usually look to help her but even if we do see one by the time we tell her we are passed it and it is too late. Even last fall when we went off property she still didn't see one.:sad2: Maybe this Sept. she'll finally see one.

Great pictures and update!

Hmm, before this I had never considered staying at CSR. Now, it's on my list! The pool area and playground look great, and Pepper Market sounds wonderful! Great pictures of Stitch in the playground. I was wondering if he got bored without his brothers - but I guess you can always find kids to play with at Disney!

Oh wow Jay, I can't believe you came across "crocogater"...lol...!!!! I would have freaked but I love the pictures you got. Your Stitch sure is a little sweetie, I love the picture of him holding your hand!!! You had another one like that in a previous trip report....wasn't it at the MK with Goofy??? So sweet.

My DD was here while I was looking at your update and she wants to go to that pool and that playground!!!! :rotfl2: She says she wants to play with "Stitch" there!!!!! She said she will be his friend since he was there all alone...LOL.

Loved the update!!! Looking forward to the next one!!!!

How totally cool that you guys got to see a gator, hubby so badly wanted to see a wild one when we were there.

Oh and I love the pic of you and stitch holding hands.
