Stitch's Great Escape...A Mom and Me Birthday Celebration! *7/26 Link to new PTR*

Day 5...The Magic Kingdom

"Mom....mom...mom..." I hear my name being whispered very softly and upon opening my eyes, I find myself looking into Stitch's big brown eyes. Instantly, I pop up thinking he must be sick. Thankfully, I see that he is fully dressed and his hair is brushed...I realize he is not sick, he is just excited. And perched on the edge of my bed with his face a few inches from my own. So, I relax and roll out of bed with a smile on my face. There may not be a better way to wake up...a full day of fun at the Magic Kingdom to look forward to and your son's sweet smile.

Stitch enjoyed part of a giant cinnamon roll while I got ready to face the day and before my hair was even dry, we were on our way out the door and headed for El Centro to catch a cab to the Magic Kingdom. We were using a cab because Stitch was VERY anxious to get there and I didn't want him to have to wait for a bus (part of the fun of having only one other person to worry about is being able to just go with the flow and jump in a cab if they ask). Here is a picture of a very eager-to-get-to-the-Magic- Kingdom Stitch. We were taking the elevator down to the ground floor of our casita. You can see the anticipation in his eyes.

We never grew tired of stopping to say 'hello' to our fowl friends. ;)

Within a half an hour of saying goodbye to topiary Donald and his amigos, we were looking at this.

Oh happy day! We chose to take the boat over to the Magic Kingdom! Our first 'ride' of the day.
wdwmarch09131.jpg

Very shortly we were finally at the heart of it all...Stitch and I were walking down Main Street hand in hand. And all was right with the world...

Our first photopass pictures of the day.

After our many pictures on Main Street we headed through Fantasyland stopping to enjoy Peter Pan, Snow White and the Tea Cups along the way. Secretly, I was hoping he would want to ride Winnie the Pooh and IaSW as well...but instead of riding, walked past them and headed toward Frontierland (by way of Liberty Square). We were walking through Liberty Square when a couple on their honeymoon (they were wearing the bride and groom Mickey ears) dashed past us (I guess in a rush to get to the rides)and as they did, Stitch was pushed into a food cart's sign. Although he wasn't really hurt, he was surprised and I am sure it didn't feel good to use his head as a bumper. The groom (to his credit) turned around and waved while yelling "sorry squirt", the bride just yanked on the groom's hand and told him to hurry up.

I waved to the groom, rolled my eyes at the bride and led Stitch over to a close bench and cuddled him while he rubbed his head. After he calmed down and we were both sure that he was no worse for the wear, we went to get up and move along our way. As we did, the CM who had been stationed at the cart Stitch literally 'ran into' handed him a Mickey bottle topper straw and asked me if he could have a drink. Upon my approval, he got to pick out a drink (he chose water) and we continued on our way. Once again, a CM showed us a small gesture of kindness that was not required or even extravagant, but is one that is very appreciated and will not be forgotten.

As Stitch was inserting his straw Mickey head on to his water bottle, a photopass CM asked if we would like a picture taken. Stitch still wasn't in the mood for a picture, so I posed for one by myself. I love the background on this picture!

After Stitch drank his water (he downed it like a thirsty camel in the middle of a desert) and I was done saying, "cheese", we continued on to our intended destination, Frontierland. Here I grabbed a fast pass for Splash Mountain and then we walked right on to the same ride. Both of us LOVE SM. It's one of my favorite rides, second only to Expedition Everest, and I was just as excited as he was to hop on a log and take a ride into the brier patch. After our ride through the brier patch, we headed over to BTMRR and took a wild train ride.

By the time we rode BTMRR (TWICE!!) we got to craving a little pirate infested water action...so we took a quick detour to Adventureland (Argh, we needed to ride Pirates). By the time we returned to Frontierland, our fast pass window was open and we could claim our second set (we grabbed one for BTMRR). Being as the stand by wait was still only ten minutes on Splash Mountain, we saved our fast passes and hopped in the very short line. After we got off, the line had grown in length so on our third Splash ride of the morning we used our FPs and then picked up yet another set of them as we got off. Now we were the holders of a set of Fast Passes for both Splash and BTMRR.

And while we wanted to ride (yet again!) our next fast pass window was not open yet (for either ride). So we made our way over to Tom Sawyer Island and did a little bit of exploring. On our way over, we were passed by the riverboat. Talk about riding in someone's wake. Ha ha.

Day 5 (continued)...MK

And then we got down to exploring! I will let the pictures do most of the talking about our time on Tom's island. We started out exploring the fort, which we left via a secret escape tunnel...how much fun is that!

We also had fun exploring the island itself, bouncing bridges and even a cave.
wdwmarch09142.jpg

After our time on the island we were both getting VERY hungry. So we took the raft back to the main park and headed over to Columbia Harbor House. We had never stopped here for a full meal before. Both of us were happily surprised. I chose to have the Anchors Aweigh Sandwich which was white tuna with lettuce and tomato served on a toasted multi-grain bread. It was served with chips and I washed it down with an unsweetened ice tea.
wdwmarch09135.jpg

For dessert I had the tasty apple crisp.
wdwmarch09136.jpg

As we were ordering, the CM behind the counter noticed Stitch's birthday button and gave him a chocolate chip cookie to help him celebrate.
wdwmarch09134.jpg

My happy little Stitch dined on chicken nuggets, fries, carrots and washed it all down with orange soda.

wdwmarch09138.jpg

After finishing up, we headed back out to Frontierland and used both sets of fast passes (BTMRR and Splash). Then, we grabbed a last set for Splash Mountain and started to make our way back out of the park...YES, I did say out of the park. It was mid afternoon and we had already ridden Splash Mountain 4 times, BTMRR 4 times, PotC once, Snow White once, Peter Pan once and taken a round trip raft to and from Tom Sawyer's Island. We had packed an awful lot into our day thus far and both of us were ready for a break. On our way out of the park we stopped to snap a few pictures of Stitch in the stocks. It cracks me up that he was barely able to reach.
He had to stand on his tip toes.
wdwmarch09140.jpg

As we were leaving, we pulled out the last set of fast passes we grabbed and Stitch picked out a couple that we passed them along to. He had so much fun giving that we made sure to repeat the gesture (when it worked out) the rest of the week. As we walked by Mickey's Philharmagic, a CM was waving people inside saying that the show was about to begin and although we were tired, we made one last detour on our way to the bus stop and enjoyed one of our favorite 3-D shows.
wdwmarch09149.jpg

Once we got to the bus stop, we were joined in line by Donald's cousins. Ha.

Shortly, the bus pulled up and Stitch and I very happily (and with tiredly) plopped into a seat. Once we got back to the CSR, we made a beeline for our room and settled in for a nice mid afternoon nap.

What would the rest of the day bring? That is for the next installment. ;)

i'm first AGAIN! i swear i'm not stalking you... :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

May 10th must have been hard on you! I know the year I was pregnant with Buzz (aka out Little Prince), I missed out on THREE planned trips to Disney. Two of them were with friends and one holiday trip with the boys. Every time the days rolled around that I was 'supposed' to be at WDW, I really starting 'needing' my Mickey fix. ;) Being stuck anywhere else when you had planned on being at WDW is no fun at all...thankfully, more trips can be planned. :thumbsup2

THREE?! :faint: You poor dear. :guilty:

And thanks for the Mother's Day wishes. I had a really quiet one. I was recovering from pnemonia and not up to doing very much. It was really nice in it's own way though, it forced us to just stay in and veg out and watch movies all weekend long. The boys made me cards and painted me pictures and dh brought me pancakes in bed...so I felt spoiled.:cloud9:

That actually does kind of sound like a nice day! i imagine that with your household full of males, there's rarely a slowdown like that!

As we were leaving, we pulled out the last set of fast passes we grabbed and Stitch picked out a couple that we passed them along to. He had so much fun giving that we made sure to repeat the gesture (when it worked out) the rest of the week.

seriously...your kids just kill me. :lovestruc

I love your trip reports! Your family is beautiful, thoughtful and so loving. You are a fabulous mother and deserve every hug, kiss and loving look from those precious children of yours. It is people like you who make this world a better, happier and more loving world.

Day 5 (continued)...MK

Looking at the wonderful Magic Kingdom photos, it makes me so excited to go back! DD and I had to put off our trip for a year (so sad but my health is just too awful to go) but we'll be going back in Feb, 2011.

Stitch's delightful smile says it all!! :goodvibes

WOW you guys were like Super riders that morning!! :thumbsup2

But BOOO to the rude couple that ran into Stitch and didn't so much as stop to check on him! :headache: oooh I'd have had to go off on them for that! how inconsiderate! That ride will still be there in 15 seconds it would have taken you to stop by and say sorry for runnign a kid over! :headache:

Once again I can't believe the ride count. Just like Epcot! I can't wait to see what you have planned for the evening. I have a quick question. The brown sparkle WDW shirt you wore on the Epcot day, where did you get it? I love that shirt.

Wow what a day of rides, you fitted so many in :thumbsup2

How nice of the CM to give Stitch a special straw after the rude man bumped him!

Sorry about the rude couple :sad2:. Looks like you had a great day at MK. the pics are really nice too. You got to so much done. I love the Anchors away sandwich from CHH, also they have good iced there too. We ate there last week :goodvibes.

Another great update. Three Caballeros! I love them! Panchito is my favorite! :lovestruc There is just not enough with those guys.

What in the world was so important for that newlywed couple that they had to run over a kid for gosh sakes!? That ticks me off whenever I see or hear about that! That CM was pretty cool too. Small gestures sometimes make great impressions!

Talk about a busy day! Stitch sounds like a real self-starter too. I've never been on Tom Sawyer's Island. Looks very interesting and fun!

I'm bringing my laptop to WDW when we go in a couple of days so I will be checking for updates even there!

Great updates!

Wow what a way to celebrate a birthday, crepes and all. All the pictures of the both of you are fabulous. The conversation between you and Stitch about the crepes is priceless!

I can't believe how much you got to do at MK! I bet Stitch was in heaven the whole time.

Another 98% fun day! Sorry about the 2% - people get so focused on their own fun they don't think to watch out for others :(

Just wanted to let ya know I'm still here and reading along. Your trip just sounds so great. Your day in the Magic Kingdom was wonderful, well minus the crazy couple. Looking forward to the rest.

Jay - What a great trip!!!! It's been awhile since I've commented but I've read this trip report in the last 12 hours or so and am hoping to go catch up mid-trip from your TR last year to finish reading!

I'm always amazed by how many special events you are able to accomplish for your family - very special things that they will surely treasure the rest of their lives!!!!

Cannot believe how big all of your boys are getting!!!! Stitch and my oldest were born only a couple of weeks apart - turning 8 seems like such a big year for some reason - they really start growing up around this time don't they???

Well, I hope to stay onboard more in the coming months - I will be home full time once again this summer now that school is over and we now have #3 on the way (big surprise! big excitement) so I will be a stay at home mommy for a few more years yet! Watching Buzz getting so big already is telling me to really enjoy this pregnancy as well as that infancy - it goes by so fast!

Keep writing - I'll keep reading every time!!! :cool1:

Jay, I am so glad you had a new update! I love the before the park pictures of Stitch and then the after the park pictures, I think he wore himself out having too much fun! :thumbsup2
Don't you just love to "work the fastpasses"? It's fun when you get them working for you and you can then pass some along... very sweet! :goodvibes
Once again I am impressed with another CM story, very nice of the food cart CM to come over to Stitch and offer him a straw and drink. I'm sorry he was crashed into. :sad2: And then a birthday cookie from another CM!
Hummm, what are the plans for the rest of the day? Can't wait to see!

I loved your MK installment! I'll be there on my birthday in October and I just can't wait!!

Another fun-filled day for you and Stitch! I just love all the great pictures you are getting of the two of you! How nice to spend quality time with just one kid - it's so hard to find that time in "real life". :goodvibes

Finally got a chance to catch up....and I want to say I am really really considering one/one trips with each of my boys. It just sounds wonderful and great memory making time together!!!

I'm all caught up over here! Got back from my Disney cruise last night, I had a fabulous time. I just wanted to thank you as your trip reports are part of the reason I was so inspired to go on the cruise. :goodvibes
