Hey scrappers,
When you do that cool stitching on your pages, do you hand stitch, use your regular sewing machine, or use one of those cute mini-stitchers? If you use the mini sticher, I'd love to hear how it works-- it would be so much more convenient than lugging out my big ol' sewing machine!!

TIA! :sunny:

I have two different kinds of mini-sewing machines and I haven't been able to get either one of them to stitch my paper!! They seem to work fine mechanically that is, but when I stitch, I just make holes in my paper, or only half the stitching stays on the paper.

I am NOT a seamstress, so I asked my mother in law if I was doing anything wrong and she said no. I just borrowed her older sewing machine so this week-end I will attempt to do some stitching and see how it goes!

Thanks, Cass! I am no seamstress either-- I have an old sewing machine that my Grandma gave me that I lug out in emergencies. I was hoping that the smaller ones would be an option but I had a feeling that they may not work so well-- especially with thick cardstock. Hmmm...

You can simulate stitching instead!

Hero Arts makes rubber stamps that look like ribbons and stitches.

A couple manufacturers make rub-ons that look like stitching.

You can use a needle to poke holes in your layout and a marker to join the holes to look like stitches.

I have always used a paper piercer and hand stitched on my page, but this weekend I tried my regular sewing machine and it worked great! I am about to start a gift album for my sister and I am going to try the machine to stitch paper together for the backgrounds.

I saw in a magazine they have clear bobbin thread and that might be neat to try: then you won't have to change the bobbin everytime you change thread.

These methods would be GREAT for me!!! NEVER even touched a sewing machine!!!

Thanks for all of the GREAT ideas!! I love the "faux sew" idea, I think I might give that a try and maybe some hand stitching too!!
