Hi,

I think I posted this question in another thread, but I would like to post it again. Has anyone been to Sea World lately and if so, is Stingray Lagoon still closed? If so, does anyone know when it will reopen again? I go to Orlando from June 3 to 7, and would love to feed/pet the stingrays again, but not sure it'll happen... :sad2:

I talked to Sea World a couple of days ago and was told that the Stingray Lagoon is open, but for viewing only, no feeding or touching. They are monitoring/testing the water and waiting for the filtration system to get the water to where they want it. They are testing several times a day and as soon as the water is the way they want it (I don't know what they are testing for) they will resume touching and feeding. I will be going on May 15th and give you an update then if you want.

the weekend prior to this last one (if that makes sense) it was open for feeding while the guide showed the lagoon still closed. but the only rays in the lagoon were cownoses, the bigger atlantic rays were in the pools in front of the shark encounter. it might be on a day to day basis at this point.

Thanks Donnie... what exactly was changed or has anything changed?

the only thing that has changed is you can see the bottom of the tank again. it has been in need of a refurb for a couple of years now, hopefully the new filtration system does the job.

We were there on Tuesday and it was all open, with lots of Stingrays to feed and stroke...a really strange feel to them!

Liked the fact there were sinks for you to wash your hands at afterwards, lots of room and didnt feel rushed to move on.

Great fun,
Lynn

That's great to hear Minnie. Stingray Lagoon is one of my favorite attractions at Sea World Orlando, and I would be greatly disappointed if it was down for rehab still when we go there in 26 days.

We were there a couple weeks ago and it was open. No feeding though, but could touch all you wanted. I think they redid the whole bottom, it's brightly painted now. And I agree, it was nice to be able to see the bottom of the tank... was covered in alge and all.
