Would love your opinions on this. Someone mentioned that they took their 2 year old daughter to stingray city...and I was thinking that my son might like this. Anyone who has taken a toddler there, I would love to hear about your experience. I would like to book this through one of the local companies, not through DCL. Please recommend your favorite!

(also any other ideas or tips for us in Grand Cayman would be appreciated!)

I took my then 4 year old and she had a blast there. She used a life vest and snorkled (she couldn't use the mouthpiece but she used the mask) and at stingray city she jumped right in with the rays and had a blast! She still talks about it a year later asking when we can go back and do it again! We booked right through Captain Marvins.

I posted earlier today about this already so I hope I am not repeating to you.

I took my 3 1/2 year old on a cruise that went to Grand Cayman and we did the Sting Ray swim/snorkel. It was so much fun and she loved it. Where we went it was on a sand bar and the water was just up to our chest or so. Lots of waves but soft not crashing. Now my friend went on Carnival and they took them out somewhere and she said you could not stand so it was a lot harder. But we loved it and would love to do it again. What an amazing experience for them. I am not too sure about about 2 though. That seems kinda young. If she is not afraid, why not. Worse case is someone will have to stay on the boat with her. We are going on another cruise with my daughter and my second daughter who will just turn two a couple days before. I am not going to even attempt to take her.
Have lots of fun.
Oh, if we go back to Grand Cayman, we want to do the sting rays but if we don't do that, I would love to go to Seven Mile beach or take a tour of the Island and take the kids to the turtle farm and go see the town of Hell etc.

There is some shopping at the dock as well. Quite a bit actually. Not great deals like Cozumels or anything, though.

We booked direct with Capt. Marvin's in May and they were just great. Unfortunately, the waves were very choppy and my 3 yr old refused to get out of the boat. DH and I took turns, but I have to admit I was a little intimidated by the size of the sting rays. I grew up in Florida and love the ocean and snorkeling, but wasn't prepared for how huge they were. I did get in the water, but just hung back from the crowd and took pictures. There were probably 3 boats of people there. Also - if you are prone to sea sickness, take something before you go. I should have, due to the choppy seas. I didn't get sick, but felt a little "green." It is a very neat experience and I think a very good deal with Capt. Marvin's.

It may have been me. We took our DD, just about a week after she turned 2. We booked Capt. Marvins. She didn't get off the boat until we got to Stingray City (DH did get off to snorkel at one of the other stops). She LOVED it!! She kept saying, "here fishy, fishy". She thought it was SO neat that they were swimming around her. If your son likes the water, then he'll probably like Stingray City. Also, we bought her one of those swimsuits with the built in floaties and it was perfect. We didn't let her go, but at least we didn't have to hold up all her weight.
