Still a go for our trip to CCV in 5 days . . . we may be really dumb!

We are at GF right now. We arrived last night and it definitely feels different. We literally felt like we were the only ones walking around. You could see into the rooms and a good majority looked vacant. Now, that was at 1030p so I think the daytime will be a better gauge.

We also got upgraded to a better room.
If you see this can you provide us with some more information on how it feels there now? Is the GF crowded? Was MCO crowded? General thoughts on the "vibe"? Thank you for your report!

We're suppose to leave next week with our kiddos (6,5, & 2) my husband wants to cancel but we are in our late 20's and healthy and our children are all healthy *knock on wood*. The Coronavirus does not seem to have the same effect on children as it does adults-- very mild almost just cold like symptoms. We booked a DVC at Bay Lake Tower for cheap and I don't even know if we would get out money back if we cancelled being its a DVC. Now, if the virus was more of a threat or if our kids were at risk of something I felt serious I would cancel in a heartbeat and just lose the money; whatever, not a big deal but with us all being healthy and young I just don't see it as being risky for our family.

If you are renting, there is probably a good chance you won't get your money back. If you are an owner, then DVC seems to be working with everyone depending on situation.

Just for the hell of it I went onto the DVC site and put in next weeks dates. I am shocked at how much is available. You can pretty much get anything you want for next week at pretty much all the DVC resorts.

We go 3x/yr. Being 68 and 69 and in good health, we cancelled our May trip and rescheduled for later summer. Hopefully, everything will calm down by then. I know we are in the supposed high-risk group, but I would like to find out details of the medical condition (i.e., diabetes, heart disease, etc.) of the unfortunate people who have died to ascertain if age per se really does put one in the at-risk group, or if the deaths were mainly in immuno-suppressed people.

We are still a "go" for our trip to Orlando in 5 days. We are staying at CCV for 7 nights: my wife and two sons (14 and 11).

We don't know what the best thing to do is. We may be really dumb!

I am curious what others are thinking about Spring Break or summer trips.

What did you decide?

We are retired and chose to use DVC as a second home instead of becoming snowbirds. We live in a resort town, Cape May NJ, and DH insists we go somewhere over 4th of July because our town is even crazier for those two weeks than WDW. WDW is my go to place for swimming and fireworks during that time!
Hi there! We live in Cape May also and we are DVC. Here now because it's our home and getaway unfortunately the resorts are closed tomorrow as of 5pm. Fingers crossed our April trip will pan out

Bobbi-Please help me out, what do you mean DVC is your second home instead of snowbirding? I'm all ears.
nowirv: I didn't see a response from "Bobbi", but we use DVC as our snowbirding vehicle.
We first bought in 2010 (and have added on 3 times since) and when I retired, in 2020, we began staying 6-8 weeks at a time, from Jan-Feb. It's a great break from winter in the mid-atlantic, and less expensive than buying a property just for the winter season.

That's really awesome. I bought a resale contract on an excuse that it would be less expensive than buying a property in Florida. Maybe one day I might pull the trigger, but I'm happy with visiting and having a place to stay on Disney property.

They call it snow flaking,if you 're not there 3 months you're just a flake....I got that that a Floridian.

Yeah, this thread brings back bad memories - I was set to make a spring 2020 visit to WDW - I’d never visited in the spring, 2 br. at AKV booked, tickets purchased, cross country flights booked, ADRs & FPs booked & then poof, WDW shut down. At least I didn’t have to decide since they closed & canceled. I was out the cost of the airfare, OTU points I’d bought, etc..
Finally made it back in Dec. 2021 to crowds & the new genie system, not a fan - I miss WDW of the before times.

Another "Snow-Flaking" here. DH won't agree to an extended stay in sunny FL, he worries about our house up north. :)
