Oh, alright, this is a WANNA BE sticky. LOL I propose a thread for vintage pictures of DL from people on the Dis. Some of my favorite TR moments have been looking at pictures from back in the day. Wouldn't it be great to have them here, all in one place?

I bet we'd have a GREAT sticky goin! Just a thought... what do you think??? :grouphug: Post away if you have any! As for me.. I need to scan some! I'm going to get to work on the search.....:magnify:

I've tryed this before, to no avail..the posts get buried. But if we can keep it sticky, COOL!
Lemme start this off...

Wow! That's awesome.. two things I wanted in one (first) post! I was looking for the old PotC entrance, specifically. Thanks so much!

As I said, this isn't a sticky, it's a wanna be sticky. LOL we'll see how well it does :)

I don't have any pictures to post, but I'm looking forward to looking at more :]!

GregC-

I love the really old pic of Harbor Blvd, thanks for posting!! It never fails to amaze me just how crowded we seem to have become (please don't take that though as a liberal 'overepopulation' type statement :rotfl: ) It's just amazing how much can happen in 60 years, that's all.

Please, everyone, keep posting old pics. If I lived by my mom I would go get our old one, but alas, I don't

DHLOVESBELLE:I agree, commercialization has worked it's way in to our home at Disneyland and personally I am not a fan of it.If I could have everything Vintage again I would.I just wished Walt would have built another exact copy of Disneyland in the northern california area back in 55'as well..oh well. Here's a few more old pics, and credit for some of these belongs to DaveLand's blog,he is the MASTER of finding these old ones!

i remember going to POTC before the funky bridge thing they did. . . not the same after that. and when the rockets were on top of the people mover entry/exit area.. oh the memories. . . I have some pics of us in the peoplemover with the mickey head lighting thing that changed in the background at night on the wall above the shop by star tours. . . HEY here is one for ya. . . remember when there was no toontown? and when space mountain had the enterance near where the middle of HISTA is???? and we cannot forget my all time favorites, the country bears and america sings. . .

It is amazing how similar the Tokyo Disneyland POTC entrance mirrors the old DLR one isn't it? Does anyone know what year DLR added the fountain and spiral ramps upwards to the front door?:rolleyes1

How neat!!!! There was no esplanade there! People just drove up to the front entrance?? I can't wait to share these with my girls, this will blow them away!

In the 80's you used to go dancing there in that courtyard by HISTA/SM! The tomorrowland terrace would play the "oldies" for the adults and we kids would rock out to the new wave stuff! This is funny: When we were there a couple weeks ago there was a DEVO coverband playing in the Tomorrowland Terrace part! DEVO is now OLDIES! Ahhhhh.... yesteryear. LOL

P.S. I share all of those memories. :)

Main Street used to have alot more "working shops" rather than "gift shops." You could do your actual business on Main Street!

I actually started this thread hoping for pics from peoples personal files...but these old images from others are fun, too. I know you're supposed to give credit where credit is due and I suck at that cause I just go around getting pictures that I like and storing them in a file of "old disney." I'll start keeping better track.

I will mention this one guy's site who I found a few (if not all) of the following. He wrote a book about the Disneyland Hotel... he's got a great site!

This is TOO awesome.. I wonder when this was taken away (it was in the DL hotel) because I feel like I"ve been to it when I visited there in the 80's but maybe it was gone by then and I'm just remembering something else? :confused3

I have these posted in my DL pre trip report and have posted these on the Dis before... but since it MIGHT become a sticky (I hope I hope!), I will add them here as well!!

FILM!
My parents moved to Cali in the late 60's. I always love hearing stories of their first memories at Disneyland, Knott's and Universal. Recently, my dad dug up old 8mm footage of their first trip to DL back in August, 1967. While the film is not perfect, due to age etc.., it is still so much fun to see DL back then. Imagine seeing the "new" Tomorrowland, the year of the People Mover and more. So much color and movement. For fun, here is that video for you to view. The blond in the video is my mom. Gotta love the cool 60's fashion!

**Feel free to post comments over on You Tube, I will see 'em!**

My parents also took my grandma and aunt to DL for the first time back in 1972, before I came into existence. Here are some pics of them by Small World and the old Motor Boats.

Here I am in the very early 80's on Main St. I sure hope my friend wasn't planning on shooting the horse. Do they still sell these fake guns at the PoTc shop?

Same visit...my friend running me down with the Carnation Truck!

Also same visit.. I posted this recently on the DL boards. I laughed so hard when someone pointed out that the guy waiting in line looks like Borat, and it appears he is without pants on. :lmao:

Lastly, here I am in 1986. Notice hip 80's fashion! Remember how the Navy embroidered hats were all the rage back then? I will be curious to see if they even have them when I got to DLR next week.

Ok, so let's see some other Dis'er's photos.... I mean YOU..back in the DAY... sporting some good ol' fashion!! :thumbsup2
