Sticky request: Car Service Recommendations

To bring some levity to the thread, I hearby nominate @Ross Kratter

😇
Haha, thanks. I really would like to see a sticky; I think it'd be enormously helpful. It'd be a great idea to separate companies that provide different levels of service, different types of vehicles, etc. and for people to be able to post about their experiences.

To elaborate on the point I was trying to make - a consolidated topic thread doesn't necessarily have to be a sticky. Many such threads exist around the DIS on a variety of topics - specific resorts, WDW events, DVC routine topics, etc. Ones with activity and staying power always tend to float around the "Page 1" of the boards anyway, especially a somewhat slower moving topic board like the Transportation Board. Ones that don't really work/get traction (for whatever reason) eventually fade away. Sometimes that happens, it just wasn't all that in demand.

My suggestion was that if folks really want such a thread, someone has to do it. As @lanejudy notes consolidated threads "usually" are best served by an OP with some general knowledge/passion for the topic at hand. I personally don't think you need some massive comprehensive updated first post on many topics, but someone to set up a first "Hey, welcome to the thread - we talk all things car services here - come join the fun, and remember our board sponsor FL Tours...." would be needed.

Personally if I were moderating this board I'd want to see the track record of usefulness/activity before making it a sticky, but if others felt differently they could go ahead and ask Corey if he'll sticky it now - it would be his call.

These things are always tricky since we all consume the DIS/media/information differently and there's no real right or wrong. Just preferences.
As I said to @lanejudy, while I understand how that format can be beneficial, I don't think it's a requirement for a sticky. Again, see the example of the SW sticky.

And, as I pointed out in the OP, the same question keeps getting repeated, generally multiple times in a week. I feel it would be beneficial for a "one stop thread" that doesn't fall off the page that users, new or old, can quickly see and peruse.

I had thought I was in the minority, but it does seem some others see some value.

So... start a thread and ask Corey to sticky it. That's generally how stuff gets done around the DIS - posters start things, mods guide/order things, useful threads get stickied, etc. With no moderator of the Transportation board, Corey makes that call of what he wants sticked or not.

I'm reminded of the Walt quote often used around property.
