stick with WBC or change to Disney SS resort

We are going to Disney in Oct. & staying at WBC, but checking my TS site, I just saw where I could trade into Saratoga Springs resort for the same time period....any comments on whether I should try that or stick with WBC?

Though I think that the villas are a bit smaller at SSR, it's nice being onsite and having either free theme park parking and/or Disney transportation as an option. Nice resort theming, lots of activities, good pools. The resort's location across the lagoon from Downtown Disney and is the most centrally located of the DVCs if you're doing something else in Orlando, like Universal or SeaWorld or just some outlet shopping, other than Disney during your stay. The one downside of a DVC exchange is the requirement to pay Disney's bizarre resort fee, which I believe is $95. But, if you haven't stayed at a DVC having the opportunity to try one out might be worth it. I'd further suggest that you do some research on what area of the large Saratoga Springs Resort that you'd like to be in and make a request before you go.

We stayed at SS (rented through owner) last Thanksgiving. While we liked the resort overall, the rooms were mildewy smelling. We changed rooms immediately after the intense mildew smell in the first room and were moved to another room that wasn't quite as bad but still mildewy. They did a deep cleaning which did not help much. I have 2 asthmatic kids and this was a real issue for us and is definitely preventing us from staying there again. Because of that, we are trying a presidential 2 bedroom in bldg 6 (newest bldg) at WBC this upcoming Thanksgiving. I figure the presidentials in the newest building should be the rooms in the best condition. Also, the cost for a 6 night stay at WBC in a 2 bedroom presidential is about the cost of a 1 night stay in a 2 bedroom at SS. The cost savings more than covers car rental and parking for the week. We don't do EMH or the dining plan so that isn't an issue for us.
