Not sure if is related to the pictures, but there are reports of a victim being raped in April 2012. You can even hear in the laughing Nodi video about "rape a palooza" or "palooza".

Incredible.

Once you get over the shock of it, it sinks in that this was most probably not the first time this has happened. It's probably the first time the pictures went outside of the inner circle. The boys probably got bolder over time with getting away with these crimes and that was their undoing. I would bet there are more victims dating back, and this thing could blow wide open pretty soon.

You're probably right about the inner circle this time considering the victim did not go to school with them.
Reading tweets from that night that one of the perpetrators sent is disgusting.

I do not believe in questioning rape victims. They are the ones that have been violated.

However, I will tell you from someone that has been there and did that and set that shirt on fire. You do stupid STUPID things with people you trust. She was not drunk with people she did not know. She was drunk AND DRUGGED, lets not forget she was drugged, among people she probably had known her entire life.

I lived in a teeny tiny town where it was the cultural for the kids to run around and have parties and be drunk. It was the whole "kids will be kids" thing. As far as I know this kind of stuff never happened but falling down face first drunk happened probably almost every weekend. I'm a mother hen so I was going around cleaning up and making sure all were safe. But when with your peers, you think you are in a safe circle.

I was date raped by a man I had been dating for 3 weeks. I had trust in him. Apparently I shouldn't have fallen asleep at his place. It was my fault right, for placing trust in someone and that blowing up in my face.

A while up, I spoke of a fellow army wife that killed herself lastyear. She was young and married. She was drunk and passed out and her husband, HER HUSBAND, passed her on to another guy and the husband also taped the whole thing. HER HUSBAND, the man she loved and trusted, shared her like a lunchtime cookie.

Do you understand that this kind of rape isn't random? Date rape is very very common in this country and probably has happened to several people you know. The whole common thread is trust and knowing the violator. So bottom line is no, you don't get to question the rape victim. You question why the guy is such trash.

Wow. Im so sorry you went thru such a thing. It was really difficult reading this post. Incredible.

Even if she was drugged, that is still stupid behavior. You don't leave open drinks unattended. Again, not blaming her, but her behavior was stupid. It would be nice if we lived in a crime free society, but we don't. Therefore, be on your A game, behave smart and safe, and your odds of getting through life unhurt will be a lot higher.

But you don't know that she left a drink unattended ... what if it was served to her with something already in it? If you are at a party with people you know well, and the host hands you a drink, are you going to refuse it and make your own?

For me personally, I always watch when drinks get made. Unless I'm at a restaurant and the server brings it to me. But it's unlikely that I would get raped in a public restaurant.

And what a sad world we live in that we have to fear having our drinks drugged at all.

I really do hope that the kids who laughed about the whole incident do feel very guilty and a lot of remorse for not doing anything to help that poor girl. In my experience with victims of abuse, the fact that other people knew it was happening and didn't do anything about it is actually more long-lasting than the act itself. It gives the victim a world view that no one gives a *^#%.

I had to DVR it. How was it? Any new information released?

I don't know about new, I learned a lot of stuff.

I didn't know the girl and one of the guys convicted had been dating
I didn't know the girl was on the honor roll, and a star soccer play at her school
I didn't know the boys asked her family for forgiveness and they gave it to the boys
I didn't know they had went to three different house to party. I thought it was one house.

I watched and was just appalled.

To see Malik at the trial crying uncontrollably knowing that he just gave an interview to 20/20 where he said he didn't do anything wrong really made my blood boil. His lawyer said you could see how sorry he was. Really?? In the interview, he didn't feel he took advantage of the girl, claimed she wasn't "that" drunk, and seemed to think this was a normal night out in Stupidville.

Malik was lying through his teeth in that interview. He said when she woke up the next morning, she was perfectly fine. Others reported she was still drunk and stumbling around. He says he didn't know what Trent was doing in the backseat with her because he was listening to the loud music yet he proceeded to take pictures and then do the exact same thing to the girl. What a scumbag liar.

I hadn't heard much about the idiot who posted a 12 minute video discussing how cool the rape was and laughing hysterically about it. He wasn't even there that night. Turns out he lost a full ride scholarship because of his actions!! :thumbsup2

I think the coverup goes very deep. I believe parents and coaches protected these kids after they heard what happened. That head football coach was an *** and he needs to go.

There isn't a single part of me that doesn't believe that these boys knew what they were doing was a sexual assault. They caught a huge break when they were not tried as adults.

The boys were so sorry they got caught. That's the extent of it. They weren't crying the night they had their way and no critical eyes were on them. Now that they are facing their fate, they are upset. They treated this girl as if she weren't even human. To think there was a former boyfriend and best friends there is beyond astonishing.

I'm glad the boy lost his scholarship. IMO he should be facing more charges. The humiliation of the rape alone was awful. Then you add the layer of of social media with the teens taking pictures, making derogatory comments about the VICTIM on twitter --- talking about her like SHE was trash! It's a sick group of teens. Beyond appalling.

I too find it hard to believe that NO adults knew anything about what happened to this girl and not one came forward. Evidently it's a sick group of parents and school officials too. Absolutely revolting. I think that aspect should be investigated and a wide net cast for the adults and juveniles that aided the perpetrators. There should be charges for every single one.

I actually thought he was sorry, I agree about the football coach needs to be fired, and there should be more charges filled against some parents.

AG Mike DeWine said that for someone to be charged with not reporting a felony, they have to know it was a felony occurring. I think there needs to be more charges files. Those boys who testified (and were given immunity) were the ones who said she was unresponsive! I think the grand jury has their work cut out for them. There's a huge who's who in Steubenville. So many talks of a cover up. Somewhere online is a flow chart of many adults in this case and their relationships to one another. It's very interesting to see!

ITA with his loss of the scholarship! This girl will be victimized for years to come over this. Rape is an event that forever scars the victim, but some people are just dehumanized to anyone's pain, but their own.

Indeed. So many used the term, "rape" then denied knowing what "rape" means. To late!

I still think this has very well may have happened before and more girls will come forward eventually.

I also think there are more pictures and videos and they will surface. Could be someone is holding out for a price (1st breaking news) from a news outlet. Sad. But it could be.

Yes, those interviews literally made me sick to my stomach, and

It was just 'okay' and 'normal' to be vomiting all over one's self... and okay for a male to have intimate relations with a girl in that condition.

Really... REALLY!!!!

But, the sickening part - he EXCUSED everyone else for turning and looking the other way, and laughing, etc... 'because, you know, they had a few drinks in them... etc...' SO THAT IS TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION FOR THEM... BUT NOT FOR THIS GIRL!!!!!

What is wrong with these guys...
They are mentally ill !!!!!
Just evil.

OMG...

At least this time, with national coverage... these criminal rapist are doing some time.

I remember the case from a few years ago, which also involved honor roll championship soccer players. It wasn't a big, open, traveling party scenario... but a young girl, just like the one here, was basicly drugged with excessive alcohol, and two guys were raping her... An older soccer player just happened to walk by and peek in, and saw right away that this girl was in grave danger, not just being raped, but was showing signs of severe, almost fatal, alcohol poisoning. She broke it up, calling 911 immediately, to get this girl some help. Testing show that without intervention, this young girl could have DIED from alcohol poisoning. A blood alcohol level which it is hard to believe that a person could have gotten by getting their own drinks and lifting them to their lips and swallowing them.

Those guys, probably also 'star athletes', WALKED free... totally free.

At least this time, with national coverage for all of our teens to see, these animals are now behind bars. There is no excuse for anyone to not realize that this is a CRIME. That this is NOT okay.
