Hello everyone,
When my fiancé and I were trying to decide the where, when, what, & who parts of our upcoming wedding, I stumbled across another members Cruise Wedding PJ and we decided a Disney Cruise Wedding was EXACTLY what we had been looking for.
I've never blogged about anything and I'm new to forums, but keeping a planning journal and sharing our adventure with others seems like great fun! I know reading another bride's PJ helped me out tremendously. Hopefully I can pass on the favor to other brides considering a Disney destination wedding.
Here are the details (so far) of our big day:
Depart July 8th, 2012 from Port Canaveral, FL aboard the Disney Dream!
The cruise is 5 days to the Bahamas with 2 stops at Disney's island Castaway Cay and a stop in Nassau.
The guest list is up to 50 people (after some prompting from my MIL to be).
We want to get married on the ship and have reserved The Outlook on the top floor for the ceremony. It holds about 30 guests, so we're making it an adult only ceremony. We figure the kids will be busy doing things on the ship anyway.
The wedding planner from Disney said the ceremony will take place the third day (that will be the day we are in Nassau) around 4:30/5pm in the evening.
On the advice of another DIS member we went through a travel agent (we used AAA) to book the cruise. Now all we have to do is get our agents info to the guests and they book directly through him. This was a teriffic suggestion and has made it super easy for our guests to book the room they want as well as get their questions answered. I highly recommend using a travel agent as they have helped cut down on the back-and-forth between us and our guests and they can help make all the travel arangements to and from Port Canaveral as well.
Soon I will post pictures of our invitations and the cruise album kit we sent all of our guests.
Happy planning!
Stephanie
