My 'background information' post is here!

Okay, let's get started!

Day 1 – Sunday 31st August

We arrived at Bristol airport at about quarter to 1, and checked in at the EasyJet desk. We were planning to eat our sandwiches before we went through to departures, but the layout of the airport had changed since the last time we’d all been there, and there was now nowhere to sit on the outside so we went straight through.

We ate our sandwiches sitting in the Burger King section (DM and DF had hot drinks, so we couldn’t be kicked out!), and then moved into the shops area. Our flight was delayed, but my mother managed to find two gossip magazines that someone had left behind, so that gave us something to read!

Our flight got into Charles de Gaulle Airport at 10 to 6 (French time), and we raced off to get the coach to Disneyland Paris. After running straight past the exit that the bus stop was at (it wasn’t signposted at all – it was only through realising that we were going down the numbered exits rather than up them that we figured out where the bus stop was!). There was a shuttle that took us down to the coach, which we hadn’t experienced last time. DM had pre-booked our tickets for the coach, but the barcode scanner on the coach wasn’t working so it didn’t really save us any time!

About 40 minutes later, we arrived at the New York Hotel. We checked in (the receptionist, Spencer, was very pleasant), and made our way up to room 7201.

The view out of the window was of the front of the hotel and a car park, which we were a little disappointed with at first, but it turned out to be quite an interesting view!

We had a quick freshen up, then headed straight into the Disneyland Park, around 8.

Since we were hungry by this point, we went to Frontierland and had tea in Fuente Del Oro. I had a taco salad, which was rather nice, although I’m sure what they claimed was a taco wasn’t really! It was more like a cold Yorkshire pudding!

The first ride of the trip was Pirates of the Caribbean. Since I’m planning on joining the Pirate Society when I go back to university, I got a tricorn hat (with attached hair!) from the shop there.

After that we went into Discoveryland, and went on Space Mountain. As usual, DF and I tried to convince DM to come on it (there are certain rides that my mother refuses to go on, no matter how DF and I try to convince her otherwise!), and to our surprise, she agreed! She didn’t like it, though – it was so jerky and rough that her earrings kept digging into her head, and the back of one of them actually ended up folded right up against the back of her ear lobe. Owch.

Then it was Buzz Lightyear time! DF pretty much always beats me on this ride, and this time was no exception. He had 53 400 points, whereas I only had 23 300. I beat my mother though – she only managed to get 6 400!

It was the last Fantillusion of the season, so we went up onto the raised part by the castle stage to watch it. We were hoping that we’d be by the villains ‘stop’, since we’ve never seen it and have no idea what the hooded figures are pushing, or what they do! But alas, no, we weren’t, we saw the princesses instead.

As soon as it was over we were herded out of the area by CMs. We got a place to the right of the castle for Candleabration (a word that I really cannot say!) and the Enchanted Fireworks. None of us had seen either of these before. Candleabration brought tears to my eyes, but I didn’t think the Enchanted Fireworks were all that good. Maybe that was because where I was standing I could only really see one side of the fireworks – there was a tree blocking my view of the right side.

And after that, we joined the crush of people making their way out of the park, and went back to our hotel for the night!

excellent start, am lookin forward to finding out y ur view turned out to be interesting!!!!!!!!!!!11

Great first day. Love the wig! The villains are pushing UV lights and they take off their cloaks to reveal orange costumes which glow in the lights and they swish about menacingly. I think I have a photo - I'll have to dig it out.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys :goodvibes

Haha, there was no specific reason I'm afraid - it was just quite interesting seeing how full the car park was and watching people coming and going! Oh, and we could see Space Mountain if we looked far enough round the corner.

That would be great if you could! I've seen the parade 3 times and have never managed to see that!
