My husband wears steel-tipped boots to work & plans to also wear them to disneyworld - will he have any problem going through the airport security checkpoints? (x-ray?) He will be allowed to wear them onboard the plane, won't he?

He will most probably set off the alarms in the machine at the airport. I'm sure they will wand him and pat him down, but he should be able to get on the plane with them. There are a lot of cowboys flying around, and I haven't seen any in stockined feet!!:D

I wear a large silver belt buckel, and have a keyring full of keys I use everyday. I years past, at the security chk pt's, I would just take my buckel off, keys, glasses, a big hand full of pocket change, and watch in hand and still would set the alarm off. They would then take me aside, use the wand over me an then let me go. Now, I plan on wearing a plan belt, taking only a car/house key, no pocket change, wear my 10es, and I'll probably will still set the alarm off!! Oh well!! I feel for those folks that have steel pins/rods implanted in their bodies at this time.

Avoid bringing all that metal, no sense getting tired out by carrying around so much weight, and also risking losing those keys.

I would say it is OK to wear the buckle, people buy them to wear and show off.

Get an inexpensive Mickey Mouse watch instead of carrying your heirloom railroad conductor's pocket watch and chain.

For steel toed boots, metal hip replacments, etc. you could let the guard know in advance, perhaps using a 3x5 index card describing these things.

Loose change can be put in your suitcase just before going through the security checkpoint. I actually suggest carrying nothing in your pockets except wallet and unwrapped film cartridges the latter emptied out into the little basket as you go through.

before the tragedy, i wore a pair of steel toed boots and it never even beeped most of the time. one time (in canada), it did beep, and they wanded me down and made me take off my shoes, but I was able to wear them on board. i haven't worn them since the 11th though.
