My Dh and oldest DS are taking the magicBehind our Steam Trains tour. It starts in the MK at 7:30. MK opens at 9:00 that day. Are the monorails runing that early so they can be there by 7:15?

Thanks experts!

Yes and no... The monorail will be running, but it does not stop at MK until 7:30 (they need to be there to check in for the tour by 7:15). Some people have found that if you ask them and tell them you are heading to the tour they will stop for you.

You did not say where you are staying or how you are getting to the monorail itself. Just wanted to let you know if they are driving in they can park at the Contemporary and walk over (just let the guard know they are taking the Train Tour)...If you are at a Disney hotel that provides bus service, the MK buses start running around 6:45am and drop off right at the front of MK, or they can take a cab (but have it drop them at the Contemporary and walk over, not MK).

Off the subject...but...Make sure they bring a camera. They tell you no cameras are allowed (standard tour speil) but the train tour has photo opportunites :)

This is off the subject of your question, but how far in advance did you make you reservations for the tour. DH, DS(10), and I are planning on taking the tour in May. DS is train crazy and this is the only way we could talk him into going back to WDW. Can you believe it, the adults talking the kid into going to Disney!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I parked at the Contemporary when we did the Steam Train tour a couple years ago. It was a surprise for my 2 (adult male) friends who are big Rail Fans. When I went to park at the Contemporary I handed the guard my confirmation and said "Shhhh! It's a surprise!" and which point she says to me. "Oh! You're here for the T-R-A-I-N tour!". I just had to laugh when I said, "You know they can spell, don't you?"

They allowed us to take pictures back then. Here is a picture of a happy Rail Fan:

We are staying at the Grand Floridian and I just figured that they would take the monorail to the MK.

We just booked our tour for the second week in May, but concierge did it for us :rolleyes1

robinb - great picture and CDSTapisRouge thanks for the tip about the camera. My DS 10 had been talking about being old enough for the train tour for 3 years. GOtta get pictures ofhis giant smiles :teeth: !
