Steam cleaner for carpeted steps

I want to buy a new carpet steam cleaner. I currently have a Bissell Pro Heat that is about 7 years old. It works well on flat carpeted areas, but the step/furniture attachment is terrible. With a dog that sheds profusely and 3 kids, I really need the carpet on the steps cleaned often. Does anyone have a recommendation?
