Well, this is my first PTR, so bear with me. First a quick back story. My wife and I have two kids together (DD 3.5yo, DD 6yo) and I have a son from a previous marriage (DS 15yo). We all went to Disneyland three years ago for the first time (before DD 3.5 was born), and stayed at the DLH. We had a great time, but only stayed for three days in the parks. Last year we all went again, stayed at the GCH, and stayed 5 days, which seemed like enough for us to do everything more than we could count! The kids had a great time meeting all the characters and seeing F! and the fireworks. My DW is not as much into Disneyland as I am, but she bears with me, it just takes getting her on one of the rides to get her off center.
At any rate, we were not able to ride many of the rides together because we had to share time watching the little girls, and of course going with children limits time for adult activities (like enjoying dinner, riding rides together, and strolling around at our own pace). So, I asked DW whether she would be willing to go with me on a grownup trip to DL, and she said "Sure!". We are not telling our kids for fear that they will completely melt down, and we are going to have to be careful about what we tell our families (who will watch the girls for us while we are gone) so they dont accidentally slip up and spill the beans. We will likley just say we are going to Southern California, and leave it at that. That is why I entitled this PTR "Stealth", this is going to have to be our own secret for quite some time.
So, here are the details thus far:
Travel dates are Feb. 16 through 19. We are flying into LAX around noon, and traveling to the GCH by Limo (Harold's Limo Service). We are staying in a 1 bdr studio in the VGC. I am guessing our room won't be available so we are either going to hang out in DTD or try to go into DL for the afternoon/evening.
Three day parkhoppers should do us fine, though I am a bit torn. Our flight from LAX on the 19th does not depart until 3:50pm, which means we could go back into the parks for a while after checkout. But, if we do that, then we would either have to not go into the parks on the 16th, or buy a 4 day parkhopper instead of a 3 day (a bit more $$$). It would be REALLY hard for me to forego DL on the 16th.
I am going to reserve PS for Napa Rose (Chef's Counter), for one night, and possibly BB for lunch one day. I want to keep it pretty open and fluid though so my wife can choose what she would prefer since this is kind of my deal. I am not really into seeing the fireworks, F! (especially since Murphy is still down and out), or WOC, though if DW wants to see them I am game. We may try to see Aladin if it is showing. We saw that when we were there lasttime and it was AWESOME!
Well, that is about it. I am waiting to buy the parkhoppers so I can figure out what it is I want to do about that, and hopefully see a price drop. I can't make PS reservations until December, and everything else is booked, so I just have to pass the time while I wait for the day to come!
If anyone has any advice on an adults-only trip to DL, and on the parkhopper dilema, I would sure appreciate hearing it!
