I recently started a thread about appropriate attire. Again, it's for a group of 5 women celebrating someone's 40th birthday. We are going to have dinner at Steakhouse 55 after a long hot day in the parks. We are very excited. :hyper:

I've tried looking at restaurant reviews online. We are definitely ordering the chocolate/nutella famous layer cake. I know one of my girlfriends is ordering the ribeye.

I am tempted to order the rack of lamb. Does it have a mustard base (I hate mustard)? Otherwise, I was thinking of trying the fish dish (crazy, right? Order fish at a steakhouse?!?!) :confused3

Which entrées did you like and why? How about appetizers and salads?

Which side orders do you like? I figured they're large enough portions for us to share.

The menu looks so good! The options are overwhelming! Honestly, I don't know when I'd ever eat there again so I feel like I don't want to screw up!

I can't help you as I have yet to dine there (on my list), but that comment reminded me of the first trip my now-wife (At the time merely a 3-year girlfriend) and I took to Annapolis Maryland. I got FRESH seafood.... she got... the chicken sandwich. What seafood restaurant has a chicken sandwich, and who orders it??? I went through a bucket or two of mussels by myself.

Has anyone had breakfast here? I just recently saw that they offered breakfast and the menu looks pretty good.

I LOVE Steakhouse 55 and have eaten there for breakfast and dinner several times. There breakfast was/is amazing we (usually a group of 4 adults) have tried a lot of there breakfast items although we usually stick with the Two Times Four and share a side order of hash browns and have never been disappointed.

For dinner it is just the cherry on top there meats (sorry never ordered anything other then meat) are amazing and the sides are served family style so you share them. My Brother always gets the Porterhouse Steak which is huge and always finishes it. We have also had the New York and Filet as well and all are very good and always cooked to perfection. The sides we have ordered are the Steakhouse 55 fries (which they cook in peanut oil) they make my fries in regular oil because of my allergies and the Macaroni and Cheese. We also get the wedge salad which used to be my one of my favorites at Blue Bayou.

You really can't be disappointed with the food it is so tasty.

I love breakfast there. My favorite is the huevos rancheros.

I've only had steak for dinner, and it was delicious. The mac & cheese was also really good. We shared the side dishes, and enjoyed our meal very much.

I adore Steakhouse 55! It's a go to for special occasions (when it's affordable at the time of course). It would be perfect for a 40th birthday! It's so classy you can dress up and have a fabulous girls night :)

Steak is my favorite food and I've had all the big ones- Mortons, Flemings, Ruths Chris, etc. I'm happy to say that 55 can hold its own with the big dogs! I highly recommend the filet. It's so velvety and delicious- it's hard to compare other things from the menu to it. The rib-eye is also a good choice!

I can also say that I've had the 24 layer cake and it was...lack luster. For everything in it, I didn't find that it had much flavor and it was quite dry. I suggest the creme brulee if you're into those. They are my favorite dessert and I've become quite picky, but they do it up right.

And yes! Side orders are totally shareable! I would say each are good for about 3 people. The green beans and mashed potatoes are classically stellar.

Also, I would call to make your reservation and let them know what you are celebrating! When I go for my anniversary, they have given us a little decorated chocolate mousse for the occasion.

Have so much fun!!!

It's been a couple of years since we ate at Steakhouse 55 but boy was it yummy!!!! Hubby had the wedge and I had the French onion soup for appetizers - both delicious. DS2 had the shrimp cocktail and the shrimp were hugh. For entrees, DS1 had the lobster and raved about it for months. Both DH an I had rib eyes which were perfect also. I have only ate one other steak that compared and it was at Elway's in Denver. Since that trip I have developed a repulsion to red meat (no clue as to why) so I'm a bit confused about what I'll have this time myself, maybe just sides because they are also so dang good. We had the au gratin potatoes and they were to die for, plenty for three hardy eaters as well as the asparagus. Seems like someone ordered the mashed potatoes also which were a hit.

I second the crème brulee and that it is a perfect place to celebrate a 40th birthday ...... have a fantastic time!!!:dance3:

I usually get the filet, LOVE IT. The Au Gratin stack is my favorite. We usually do 2 sides for 3 people.

Breakfast is awesome.

pepe3penelope you will love it! Dh and I have had many great meals at Steakhouse 55! We usually get the filet. So yummy! All the sides have been wonderful as well. I would ask the waiter/waitress about the sauce on the lamb...we have always had a great server who was really helpful and nice! Have fun!!

We are booked to eat dinner there on Thanksgiving night. Any experiences with their Thanksgiving dinner? Do they offer the regular menu in addition to a special Thanksgiving menu?

Hi, Crystal! Thanks for the input!

Thanks to everyone for their responses! I forwarded this thread to my friends! :thumbsup2

Just had breakfast at 55 this past Monday. All in my party had the 2X2. Pancakes or French toast, breakfast potatos, 2 eggs, 2 sausage and 2 bacon. We all replaced the bacon with sausage, as there is no really good bacon anywhere on property. Some had pancakes and said they were meh, those that chose French toast were pleased. My daughter that was not with us this time always orders the steal cut oatmeal and likes it a lot! Best breakfast on property IMHO!

OP here! We had a great dinner! The restaurant was busier than we expected. There was a convention going on and it was also Halloweentime & Gay Days Weekend. There were 6 of us. Can you believe 5 of the ladies ordered the rib eye. I really wanted to try the lamb & I did. We got the mashed potatoes, fried calamari, caesar salad, madeira mushroom, & one girlfriend got the baked potato.

The food was awesome. My lamb portion was sooooo small!!! It was very tender though. Next time, I'd get the rib eye!

Birthday girl got the complimentary cake.

We also got the creme brulee and the 24 layer chocolate/nutella layer cake.

Overall, a fun & yummy night! :thumbsup2

Love that 24 layer chocolate cake!! I'm guessing you enjoyed it, too!!
Thanks for the pictures.....now I can't wait to get back there.......

:thumbsup2
