My roomie was expecting a UPS package today, so he asked if I could stay home and sign for it. There were actually 2 packages, one of which was a huge styrofoam chest. I almost called my roomie at work to see if he wanted me to open the chest since it had a "Frozen Parishable Contents" label on it......but then I noticed that the label was addressed to me! (It took me a while to notice this 'cause....you know.......I'm slow that way.) It was an ice chest full of Omaha Steak Company steaks, burgers, pork chops and potatoes! A friend of mine sent it to me as a "non-Christmas Christmas gift". (It's a very "butch" gift, isn't it? :rolleyes1) There was also a mini cookbook and a salt/pepper shaker.

There's now about $150 worth of Omahalian food in my freezer!

Have any of you ever had anything from the OSC? From what I've been told the quality of their steaks is very good. I'm kind of looking forward to trying this food, but I have to wait until my friend from out of town leaves after Christmas because he likes going out to eat. Maybe I can convince him to dine in for one night. :scratchin

Being a Nebraskan myself, I'm very familiar with Omaha Steaks. It's probably some of the best beef/meat that you'll ever eat. Amazing stuff.

I get them as a gift quite often, very good!

And keep that cooler! Comes in handy!

Not gonna say it....Not gonna say it....Not gonna say it. :lmao:

Very cool. I'm looking forward to it. :thumbsup2

Even though it'd be entertaining, I'm trying to prevent myself from using the cooler and dry ice as a makeshift fog machine. :rolleyes1

Boil water on the stove then add the dry ice for the best fog! :thumbsup2

Dirty boy. I love how you think.

And you HAVE to make a fog machine! It's part of the fun when getting anything from Omaha Steaks!

I'll try to have the living room all "foggy" for when the roomie comes home. It's bound to send him into "Dazed & Confused" mode......more than he normally is. ;)

DS and DH LOVE dry ice. Must be a boy thing. You will notice none of the girls are all excited about the dry ice.

We have never tried Omaha Steaks. Maybe I will check out the website.

Wow, I think you're right! I am so enthralled by dry ice, and also bubble wrap.

Oh yeah.......dry ice is kind of the equivalent of when a 3 year-old gets a present but they're more fascinated with the package the gift comes in.

I haven't tried the steaks yet, but I'll be sure to post a review of them after I do. (The package also came with scallop and crab-stuffed sole, chicken breasts and caramel apple tartlets. I'm set for weeks.)

MM, that sounds like an awesome gift! There is actually an Omaha Steaks store right around the corner, so I might have to stop in one of these days and see what all they have. :) Minus the dry ice. :rolleyes1

I didn't know they even had stores. I thought they were mail order only. Hmmm...Ya learn something new every day.

Don't skip the dry ice. It's part of "the experience". :cool2:

Woo-Hoo!!! Great Gift!:thumbsup2

My stomach and I think so too. :rolleyes1

Why won't my friends ever send gifts like that??? :confused3

Maybe if you tell your friends that you're unemployed like me, you'll start getting some great gifts too. :lmao:

The funny thing is I've only met this "friend" once since he lives on the west coast. We've talked on the phone and online for 5 years and finally met when he had a function to attend here in COWlumbus. I gave him a tour of the city and introduced him to a couple of my favorite restaurants, which he fell in love with.

It's always about the food, isn't it? :scratchin

Awesome! We love Omaha Steaks! Both to get as presents, and to send!

I really have to pay better attention. I thought the title was "Streaked" and that you got flashed by the UPS guy. I was kinda disappointed after I opened it up, yet happy that you got some meat anyways. :thumbsup2

We haven't had them in awhile, but they are very nice! I was particularly amazed at how good their burgers were! (I mean, you expect the steaks to be good). LOL.

We had the apricot and cranberry stuffed chicken breast several years ago now, and it was quite good too.

We used to live near an Omaha Steaks store, and enjoyed going their and splurging every now and then.

No one's stopping you. Feel free to send more!

I wouldn't have minded that. The UPS uniform does it for me. :rolleyes1 This guy was a really short, good-looking muscular fella. No complaints here. The steaks were a nice alternative/"runner-up" gift. :thumbsup2

I'm looking forward to the burgers. The stuffed chicken breasts sound pretty good too. After looking at the brochure that came with the package, I noticed the beef tips in mushroom sauce looks great too.

This thread is a vegetarian's nightmare. :rolleyes1

Omaha Steaks are supposed to be great. I think you get a free year supply when you buy a Bently, so you know they are classy lol.
