We love steak. Our idea of a good place for steak is outback steakhouse or chilis we do not like going to fancier restaurants with the kids. Is there a restaurant at disney where we can have steak prepared in this type of way and casual and kid friendly.

Im sorry for even posting because I cant help you because I have not been to disney YET but I just wanted to let you know im with you guys on LOVING steak. Thats one of the things im looking forward to on our trip :cool1:

It is somewhat fancy, and more of an adults place, so I guess this doesn't help, but as a steak lover, I have to say the Yachtsman Steakhous is the absolute BEST, IMHO. I have had a lot of steaks all over, and this ranks up there with the top 3. Yum. I am salivating now.

Then go to either Shula's at the Dolphin or the Yachtsman steakhouse at the Yacht club

Well thats 2 posts in this thread alone suggesting the Yachtsman so the Yachtsman it is!! Thank you VERY much!

You probably won't get down to Chili's prices at Disney. But you can get a decent steak for around 20 bux at Concourse Steakhouse in the contemporary They have a prime grade sirloin with potatoes and veggies, a 10 oz prime rib with mashed potatoes, both for about $20 bux.
They have a rib eye and a new York Strip for under 25 and a filet for about 30 (With Tax but not tip)

Yachtsman's, and Shula's are over 35 bux for a steak. Probably not what you're looking for.

Le Cellier is in between these but do check out their lunch menu. I think they have an open faced sirloin steak sandwich for about 13 bux or so and they have a couple steaks under 20 bux at lunch.

It's not a steak place per say but Kona has a terriyaki steak or Prime Rib on their menu for about 25 bux too.

.

we absolutely love le cellier and concourse steaks on our trip in dec. both cooked to perfection and tender even the sirloin at le cellier waas as tendera as an filet.

If you are looking for Outback or Chili's quality steaks, then Concourse steakhouse would be a good bet for you.

Also, we had a very nice filet mignon and teriyaki sirloin at the Kona Cafe (which is at the Polynesian).

You sound like a family similar to mine, so I'm guessing that the suggestions for Yachtsman's and Shula's aren't what you are looking for. Will you be on the DDP? If you are, I would suggest one of the following three restaurants which only require on TS credit.

Coral Reef
Le Cellier
Concourse

Coral Reef had one of the best steaks I've eaten in years. The downside is that it's very expensive. If you're not on the DDP and money is an issue, you might prefer to try Concourse. This restaurant was so good that I'm making a return visit during the free dining promotion.

Le Cellier has mixed, but generally very favorable, reviews. I haven't eaten there yet, but will be during the free dining promotion. Based on what I've read, about 80% of the people who eat here love it and say the steaks are among the best they've ever had, but the other 20% say that the steak was grizzly.

Concourse is probably your best option you're not on the DDP and money is a concern. The reviews are generally favorable, but it isn't nearly as popular as Coral Reef or Le Cellier. I've heard more negative reviews about Concourse than the other two, but for the most part people are very pleased with their meals. Prices are certainly higher than an Outback, but not by as much as you might imagine, and in my experience, the food at ANY Disney restaurant is going to be a huge step up from Outback. It's more of an experience than just a meal.

As for not dining in fancy restaurants with kids, you don't have to worry about that in Disney. If your concern is the KIDS and not the money it takes to pay for all of them, then you might want to reconsider one of the Signature restaurants. They are more expensive and require 2 TS credits if you are on the DDP, but your kids will not be out of place. Kids are welcome just about everywhere at Disney.

Thanks everyone. Cost isn't a concern, we are not on the dining plan but we splurge and have what we want at disney. My main concern is my children in a fancy restaurant. They are generally well behaved but I don't want to feel out of place. Also me and dh have simple tastes and didn't really like the way the steaks and sides were prepared in some of the fancier resturants near us. We like potatoes and such for the side nothing fancy. If that makes any since.

We were at WDW again last week and were in the same dilemma. I actually cancelled Yachtsman after reading about the bleu cheese crumbles on the steaks. We ate at Spoodles one night, DH's ribeye was good, but no baked potato available, they served it with 4(I kid you not) sweet potato fries. Even DDs kids steak came with mashed potatoes. The following night we returned to Concourse, one of our old standbys, and split chipotle ribeyes with our girls. DH got his baked potato, I had the garlic smashed. Concourse is so accomodating that they even split everything in the kitchen ahead of time for us. Their price for the ribeye was ~ $25 each, salad extra.

Oh, Am glad Concourse is popular, I decided 10mins ago I want to dine there and then started to check it was ok!

Garlic mash, Yummmmm :yay:
