Hi everybody!

I have already made reservations for the Yachtsman Steakhouse (@ Yacht Club) but I’m having second thoughts.
I have never gone to the Yachtsman but I have gone to Shula’s (@ Dolphin) and I love it.

Which one do you think is better?

Thank you very much for your time.

We have eaten at the Shulas in our home town and it is fantastic and we have eaten at the Yachtsman...I prefer the Yachtsman.

We've eaten at both as well, except we prefer Shula's. IMO, the steaks are in a different league and the feel of Shula's is that of a traditional upscale steakhouse. The menu and atmosphere of Yachtsman is a bit too ordinary for my tastes. Of course, to each his own, and I don't think that you'll be disappointed with either restaurant.

I have never eaten at Yachtsman, but have eaten at Shula's at WDW and LOVED IT!!!!!!!!:)

Definitely Shulas!

We went to the Yachtsman Steakhouse during our July trip and it wasn't as good as it used to be. In fact, it wasn't good at all IMHO. We ordered our steaks medium rare and they were on the inside but the outside was charred. You couldn't taste the oak grilled flavor at all. The mashed potatoes tasted really old.

It's sad because this was a favorite of ours. This is the second time we've had this experience. I was hoping the first one was a fluke. Guess not.

I have been to both in the past year, Shulas in December and YSH in July.

I would give Shulas a slight edge when comparing just the steaks (I had prime rib at both). When comparing the overall experience and all the foods salads, spinach, potatoes, etc... I give the edge to YSH (horseradish potatoes are to die for). I thought Shulas was too dark. I could barely seen anything and that bothers me.

With that said I dont think you can go wrong at either! :thumbsup2

Big edge to Shula's, IMO. Shula's serves USDA Prime beef (from their own ranch) Yachtsman's doesn't ... although you may get a big ole bug in your salad at Yactsman's if you're lucky.:scared1:

We've been to both and loved Shula's. Yachtman Steakhouse was a huge disappointment - very poor service (i.e. never refilled drinks, never saw our server after she took order, eventually walked up to hostess stand to have them get us a copy of the bill so that we could leave), relatively flavorless steaks and oversalted sides.

I've read rave reviews on Yachtman's, but I've also read plenty of poor reviews as well. IMO, a restaurant with that price level should not have such inconsistencies in service and food.

We ate at YSH last wednesday night and had a fantastic meal, best meal there since our wedding reception. That said, the steaks are superior at Shula's IMO. We probably would have gone there if we weren't on the DDP.

We have Shula's here in my hometown, and it is fabulous! The filet mignon is the best ever, and that beefsteak tomato salad with gorgonzola is just amazing!
The ambiance is rich wood, and white linens-just perfect!

Thanks to all for your input. It was really helpful. We also read all the posts in other related threads (including the bug incident).

My Wife and I decided to go to the Yachtsman as originally planned.

It seems like the food might be a little better at Shula’s but it seems like the Yachtsman is much more family friendly. Since we are traveling with the Kids I know we made a wise decision.

Thanks to you all for your time.

Never been to the Yachtsmans yet, Shula's was OUSTANDING!

No contest....Shula's! I think Yachtsman is very much over-rated and over-priced for what you get. Shula's is right up there as one of the finer steak houses around and definitely superior to Yachtsman...in my opinion.

I love the Oysters Rockefeller at Shula's too...awesome!

We've been to both at WDW. They are both very nice, but I'd rather return to YS. :earsboy:

I think Shula's has "better" steak, but the one time we went, service wasn't exactly "Disney friendly".

They don't. Prime is government (UDA) rated. Shula's serves "certified angus brand". They claim their beef exceeds prime standards in 7 out of the 8 criteria and exceeds choice in the 8th. What that really means is their steaks aren't prime, because they're sub-prime in at least one qualifying standards.

The steaks are better then good but they're not Prime.

The Palm serves prime meat.

Thank you, OP for this thread, and thank you Lewisc for the info; I've been wanting to try Shula's and YSH. I wil skip both restaurants and stick with Peter Luger's at home.

Thanks Lewis but if Shula's exceeds Prime in 7 catagories and underachieves in 1 it would seem that perhaps Shula's claim of 'better than prime' has some merit.

Oh, Kay, Peter Lugars? You like being served by rude waiters??? This I just don't understand.:confused3
