Hiya all:flower3:

We are newbies to staying on site and had a couple of questions.....

We are staying at the RPR in October for 1 night (the 2 days "FOTL" spun it for us) . After we check in (really early - see I did read the stickies...;)) and head for the parks - can someone walk me through how we get to the parks from the RPR - walk? boat? bus? If they are doing early entry for hotel guests is there a separate entrance?

Ta....

Most days we walked, it is very nice and relaxing and doesn't take long at all. Not sure what time the boats start running, we did take them occasionally but only if it was at the dock when we were leaving. You are going to have a WONDERFUL time!

I want to say the boats start most the time at 8 am and run to 2 am. But we normally walk from RPR since it nice and about 6-10 minutes on your speed. Now if you are going to Universal and not Islands the boat is better since it drops you closer to Universal or right in the middle of Citywalk. The walking path from RPR comes right out my Margaritaville right by Islands of Adventure.:thumbsup2

We usually take the boat. The RPR boat dock is located near the Tchop Choup Restaurant, near tower 3. I believe that the boats start operating an hour before the park opens.

On the other hand, the walk is nice and not too long. If you're in either tower 1 or 2, cutting through the pool area will shorten the walk. The pathway drops you off in Citywalk, between Margaritaville's Porch of Indecision and the bridge to IOA.

I've never participated in the early entry, so I'm not aware of a special entrance for on-site guests. I suspect that on-site guests use the regular entrance and gain admittance by showing their room key.

We always check to see if the boat is there or just coming. If not, we walk.

How often do the boats run ? and how far is it to either Park from where the drop you off which I believe is City Walk!!!

No need to get there early with FOTL! We usually walk if going to IOA, or the boat if going to US. The boat dock is at Citywalk, so you will ride the boat past IOA's entrance and then have to walk all the way back to it. There's also a bus available.

Only been in Summer, usually about every 10 to 15 mins, but if there is lots of people waiting ,i have seen them radio for another boat to come.
Like Damo said if there is no boat there or one coming its always quicker to walk, its 7 mins to Citywalk and about another 1 and a half minutes to IOA.
The boat drops you of at Citywalk , facing Nascar grille, and its right at the bridge over to Universal Studios about a minutes walk, and about 4 mins to IOA, at the most

I think she's wanting to do early entry with HP :D

DD is concerned that at the end of the day it will be a long walk for a tired young man !!! It sounds to me like it is not as far as the buses at Disney!!! Am I right!!! I do think Kyle would enjoy the boat ride though !!!!

Tttessa,

Can I ask a question? What rate did you get for RPR? My family and I are planning to spend 2 night in late September. The lowest rate I can find is $249.00 a night.

No ,its not as far as the walk to the Disney buses. But if you are at IOA ,it would probably be quicker to walk to RPR than the boat taxi

If you're a triple-A member, call the Universal Hotel reservation to get a quote. If the rate is available, it should be lower than the $249 rate you found.

:thumbsup2 Sure are - hoping the die hards will have been by then and things will settle down a little - but I do see that most flights from UK are pretty full for October (already!!), so there are going to be a few Brits over there the last half of October!

Sounds like a gentle walk in the morning and either walk back or get a boat... still, in October the parks close pretty early and we are not Horror night junkies, so won't be toooooo "weary".

Thanks
Tessa
