Staying onsite 9 nights- can I do DDP only part of that time?

I think u have to have it for your whole stay. Not sure u might have to call disney to find out.

It must be for all guests in your party for the entire length of your stay.

the dp is based on the number of nights you are staying.
you can try to split your reservation. if you only need 5 days worth of dp make a room only reservation for 5 nights then make another reservation for the remaining 4 nights. you may be asked to change rooms but i have not heard of anyone having had to do that.

Keep in mind that if you do a split reservation, your DDP credits expire at midnight the last day of the package portion of your trip. You can't save some of them up and use them through the end of the entire stay.

So, for example, if you have a package reservation with DDP for the 1st through the 5th and a room only from the 5th through the 10th, all the DDP credits would have to be used by midnight on the 5th. From the 6th through the 10th, all meals would be OOP.

Thanks for your responses- I also found out that if I did a split and wanted to stay with the dining I would have to buy a whole new base ticket- agh- doesn't seem reasonable- as much as I would like to stay part at Pop and part at AS Movies- buying a new ticket seems silly

the part of your stay without dining you could buy as a room only. (call Disney direct to book it.) A room only res does not require a park ticket.

This is what I would like to do-

Stay at Pop from Thursday, April 24 to Sunday April 27 without dining plan but with magic your way plus hopper plus water

On Sunday transfer to All Star Movies and do dining plan for remaining 6 days- but in order to do this I would need to buy a new magic your way pass to go with this reservation-

I would think that as long as I have a Magic your way pass that isn't expired it wouldn't matter but apparently it does-:rolleyes1

you could do the reverse - stay wherever for x nights with DDP and park ticket (you can buy more days than your length of stay) then move to room only reservation

The DDP is a component of a MYW + Dining package. One of the stipulations is each guest on the res buys the same type MYW ticket. It can be a 1 day ticket you purchase, and if you don't use it, then it is good until you do.
But I agree with the pp, just switch your stay dates between a room only and MYW package.

I wish I could change it but my situation is as follows-

From April 17-24 we are renting a house off site with friends of ours- we are doing Universal, Seaworld, Busch etc. On Thursday the 24th we are all going to stay onsite at Pop- they are leaving Sunday the 27th but we are staying until the following Saturday May 3- Our friends will NOT be doing the dining plan

What I would really like to do is- stay Thursday, Friday, Saturday at Pop without the dining plan- then on Sunday move to All Star Movies and have the dining plan for the remainder of our stay-

Now we can do this BUT- in order to go on the Dining Plan on Sunday we would need to buy new Magic Your Way tickets- this would be silly since we are going to have already bought our MYW tickets-

It would have been great had it worked out- but not a huge deal-

THanks for all your posts, JEn

What about just buying a 1 day no expiration ticket for each person for the 2nd reservation? Sure, you'd have to spend the $$, but you will most likely be back in the future so in the end you would see the value later. When you come back, say in 3 years, you could upgrade the 1 day tickets to say 5 days or whatever you needed.

You would just buy a 1 day ticket, and not use it. No need to get a no expiration ticket, you just dont use that ticket. It expires 14 days from 1st use.. Just dont use it til you go back, and then upgrade them. But of course when you go back you'll probably need at least a 1 day ticket also :)

We would need 3 adult and one childs pass which seems so silly to pay the extra-

I think I have accepted that the split stay will not happen.\

Thanks for all you advice-

Jen
