Okay...so you book an onsite resort...value, moderate, deluxe or even home away from home......

Starting 5/5/05, you can take advantage of Disney's Magical Express. Do you tip the driver of the bus or just the one dropping off your luggage? And if the luggage "magically" appears in your room, how do you know who to tip?

If you tip the driver who takes you to your resort...do you tip him based upon the number in your party or the level of resort you are staying at? Normally, if you tip a town car, limo, Mears, etc...you tip them for helping with your bags.

How Disney's Magical Express service works

Disney's Magical Express must be booked at least 10 days prior to arrival through disneyworld.com,
Disney Reservation Center by calling 407-W-DISNEY (407-934-7639) or a travel agent beginning Jan. 2,
2005. The service commences May 5, 2005.

Guests check their specially-tagged luggage at their departure airport.

Upon arrival in Orlando, guests bypass airport baggage claim and go directly to the Disney Airport
Welcome Center.

Guests board state-of-the-art motor coaches that take them to their Disney hotel.

A team of Disney representatives at the airport will pick up guests' luggage and transport it to
their hotel room.

Disney's Magical Express service makes guests' return to OIA hassle-free as well. This convenient
system lets guests flying with participating airlines avoid airport check-in lines by enabling
passengers on domestic flights to check their luggage and receive a boarding pass before ever
departing their Disney hotel. As an added benefit, guests with flight departures later in the day
no longer have to worry about their luggage after they check out of their hotel. They can simply
check their luggage at the Resort Airline Check-in Desk and then enjoy the last day of their stay.

* This service is offered at on-property Disney Resorts for guests departing from Orlando
International Airport, with the exception of the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, Shades of Green
and Downtown Disney Resorts. This service is not available for guests arriving to other Central
Florida airports. If you move to an off-property resort, such as Disney's Hilton Head or Vero Beach
Resorts, you will need to arrange for your own transportation back to the airport.

Je penserais que vous assaisonnez des voyageurs auraient quelque genre de suggestion.

Since Disney will already be getting about $3k from me, I wasn't planning on tipping at all. Maybe I am just cheap!

I think some people confuse Disney Inc. with the average CM. Airport transfers generally cost us $120. We then tip the bell services person in addition to the transfer cost. I plan on tipping $10 each way, which is what I would tip for a $50 trip - the value I place on the transfer.

Just my suggestion.

Just like I would tip skycaps, I would tip the bell services who deliver your bags to your room= $1.00 per bag.

I was reading a FAQ section on the employee website about this, and noticed that one of the questions was about gratuity regarding delivering your bags to your room. It said gratuity was included. since you hand your luggage to airline employees at the airport, we don't generally tip them. I guess if you use curbside you would. Once you sign up for this perk and give Disney all of your airline info, they will send you all of the information you need and rules. However, if you are unaware, only certain airlines are participating in this perk. I just sent this info to a friend, but will cut it here too.

What is Resort Airline Check-in?

Resort Airline Check-in is a service offered to all Disney Resort Guests departing Orlando via domestic flights on participating air carriers from Orlando International Airport. This service allows you to check your luggage and receive your airline boarding passes at your resort. At this time, this service is available for Guests flying domestically on American, Delta, Song, Continental, United and Ted.
With this service, you no longer have to worry about your luggage after you check out of your Resort. This service will be valuable especially if your scheduled flight departs later in the day; simply check your luggage at the Resort Airline Check-in Desk and then enjoy the last day of your stay. (The hourse for the resort airline checkin desk at your resort is 6:00AM to 2:00PM) Hope this helps.

Wow! Not many airlines are included in this list. It really makes a big difference for us flying out of Charlotte NC where the biggest carrier isn't on the list! So I guess I have to do a cost analysis on the air prices with towncar vs Magic Express air prices without towncar service. Great. Is there a possibility they will be adding more airlines to this list?

This service is available to everyone, no matter what carrier, for inbound flights. See quote:

While the inbound domestic airlines are not restricted, as of now the outbound pre-flight check in at the resort is limited to guests flying on American, Delta, Song, Continental, United or Ted. Guests using these airlines can check their bags and receive their boarding passes between 6:00am and 2:00pm at the Resort Airline Check-In Desk located in or near the lobby of their Disney resort.

I beleieve that the list of airlines is just for resort airline check-in not for Magic Express. All resort guests are eligible for Magic Express.

BTW, I wouldn't count on them adding US Airways to their list of resort airline check-in as is very doubtful that US Airways will exist for very much longer.

I was reading yesterday that the tip for the luggage is included only for the dropoff to your room. For the person who comes to pick up your luggage at checkout, that tip is NOT included. I don't know about the shuttle drivers, though. I believe it was somewhere here on the DIS i read that. if i can find it, I will come back and post the link.

Oh, and about the airlines. It does not matter who you fly for the trip to Orlando. They will get your luggage (Disney sends you the tags before you leave). On the return flight, if your airline is not one to the participating ones, you just have to take your luggage w/ you on the shuttle and check it at the airport yourself.

Speaking of the Magical Express. What do they do when you carry on everything. I don't check any of my bags (I make sure everything fits into the regulation for carry ons). I undestand its a shuttle or a bus or whatever, but do you tip them then? Are they gonna be mad cuz I got my bags already? ;)

i was gonna say that to N2
this doesnt work for every airline
i dont i know i alway sfly jet blue and it doesnt work with them disney should add that it isnt goof for every airline
its alittle misleading

Actually, I do not believe it is a Disney CM that will be providing transportation...they have contracted Mears for this. At least that is what I was told by a CM at CRO. Disney has provided (purchased new) the vehicles and it is Mears taking care of the rest.

Yes I'd agree you are cheap. :)
