Staying off-site

I can't believe I don't know this, but can off-site guests make dining reservations? How soon?

We're DVC members and have always stayed onsite until December 2010, we are using a week at an off-site timeshare in early December. I'm already worrying about how different our experience will be! But it's worth it, because we've never been at Christmastime before and I can't wait to see the decorations. We just have to figure out the dining and transportation thing!

90 days from the ADR you are trying to make. If you are making 7 ADRs you have to call 7 times on the 90 day mark for each or wait til 90 days from the last one (which might be risky). The advantage of being onsite is you can make up to 10 days worth of ADRs once you are 90 days from your checkin date.

The only difference with staying offsite and dining reservations is you don't get the +10 days. So you do have to call every day 90 days out from the date you want your reservation. For example, if your vacation was July 1-7, you would have to call 90 days prior to July 1 for those dining reservations, the very next day for the July 2nd reservations, the next day for July 3rd reservations, etc.

You'll have to be a bit more flexible with your seating times and restaurants but I've never really had problems with getting a reservation.

The Christmas happenings at Disney World will more than make up for any potential dining problems you run into. What's a prized seating at a restaurant compared to holiday storytellers, Lights of Winter, Osbourne Lights, etc.?

Awesome! Plus we're not planning to go during the busy weeks of Thanksgiving or Christmas break so it shouldn't be so hard to get ressies. We're traveling with a pack of kids so we're not looking for the most prized places anyway!
