Staying off-site for PHM?

Has anyone stayed off-site for a disney race? Our last 2 trips we stayed off site and loved it (Hilton Bonnett Creek and DTD Hilton). Stayed at CB for the ToT/Wine & Food Festival and was disappointed. We will have a car regardless of where we stay. I'm trying to list the pros and cons as to where to stay. The only pro I have for staying onsite is the Expo is located at CS (would only have to walk). We have pretty much decided to drive to the race so we have somewhere to hang out if it happens to be cold or rainy (plan on leaving at 3am to get to Epcot).

Any thoughts or suggestions?
