How does it work? If i want to do art of animation, how do the points work. If i cancel outside of 31 days can i still bank? Please help

I don't think you can use your points at AoA. Don't know for sure.

Disney Collection at WDW would be:

Caribbean Beach Resort
Coronado Springs
Fort Wilderness Campground
Grand Floridian
Poly
Port Oleans French Quarter
Port Orleans Riverside
Yacht Club

Then there is the $95 booking fee they would charge you.

I think that if you cancel, those points are reservation points and can't be banked. You would have to use them before they expire at another Disney Collection hotel or possibly a cruise.

Hopefully someone more knowledgable will chime in.

As the previous poster stated, Art of Animation is not available for booking with points. Only Moderate and Deluxe resorts are available.

You will pay a $95 fee for the non-DVC reservation. Your points become Reservation Points and, if you cancel, they can no longer be used for DVC resort reservations.

The only WDW resorts you can book outside the DVC resorts are currently the moderates, Poly, GF, Ft Wilderness and Yacht Club. Once the DVC at GF opens, expect it to drop off the list. I don't know if you've looked at the conversion list to stay there but you'll be in the range of the same points as for a 2 BR (give or take). Try This Link for the applicable points charts.

Do u mean conversion to a value resort?

You can't use points at a value resort. You can only use points at the resorts listed by DizBub above.

By "conversion" Dean meant comparing the points of a non-DVC vs a DVC. For example, a Yacht Club standard view room for tonight is 41 points plus the $95 reservation fee. A 1 bedroom at BWV preferred view is 29 points, a 2 bedroom is 39 points. So you could get a BWV 2 bedroom for less points, plus no fee.

I know about the conversion to reservation points. I dont see the pts chart for non dvc resorts. Is it part of that link. I wouldnt stsy non dvc in the parks with a home at BLT. I was more wondering if AoA was a possibility as my family is staying there.

Thanks for your responses.

Let me say i think i knew all this, but to be confirmed i was right helps me convince myself and others.
