I have been reading reviews and reading reviews.... My sister and I have a chance to get a really good deal on a trip to DLR staying at the Castle Inn. Coming from Canada, its working out to a really good deal when our dollar isn't so good. This would be our first sister trip to DLR together too. I've seen pretty decent reviews on Trip Advisor, Yelp, Google, for a 3 star hotel. I saw a few people on dis saying "never again" which makes me a bit nervous. Can anyone offer any thoughts on Castle Inn?

Haven't stayed there but saw it from across the street. Excellent location. However, it's a motel and it's likely to have issues with noise. It seems to be independently owned and not part of a franchise, so perhaps it doesn't have franchise standards to meet.

I certainly am not one to say never again. Some people take little issues seriously, and others don't go crazy over them. It doesn't sound like that bad a place to stay. It's probably not the Hilton (which I've stayed at cheap) but if there's a good price the location is pretty good.

It is one of the walkable ones as it's across the street, but I have never stayed there. It's an older location, and might have some noise issues, but, truthfully, you are going to spend very little time in your room. I figure it's a place to crash and as long as reviews don't say horrible things about bugs, I'll give most anything a chance.

I've stayed at everything from the Candy Cane Inn to the Red Roof Inn around that area and honestly don't remember why I paid for premium rooms at CCI. Next one I'm trying is Islander....gets decent reviews and still walkable location.

Thanks you two. The reviews say its clean, free wifi, and the price is great. There was a bit about noise but I'm an easy sleeper and I don't expect that to be an issue for me personally, but that is the biggest complaint I've found. I found maybe one or two posts in my review of almost 20 pages of reviews, but I have seen that at fancy hotels. Our other option is the Grand Legacy. It would be about $210 extra, which could honestly go a long way elsewhere. I've been to DL in Sept 2015 and May 2012 but my sister hasn't gone since she was a baby and she is trusting my (the disney nut) to make the plans. She's okay with extra $210 she says, but her financial situation isn't quite as good and flexible as mine so I'm trying to be conscious of that too.

I would recommend either Candy Cane Inn or Comfort Inn and Suites (300 Katella). I have stayed at both and had great experiences at both places!

No, you got the right one. Castle is one of the very few on prime location with Free parking and internet.

People tend to confuse the "castle-ey" hotels. It's Carousel that tends to put people off due to paid parking and resort fee. Camelot is also okay. For the best castle-ey SUITES you might want Anaheim Majestic.

Castle has been completely remodeled. I was one of the ones that said never again. Well, I did stay there last May and it was really nice. I will be staying again in November. I would say stay!!!

I don't really care about "castle-ey" as much as reasonably prices, clean, easy walk, and free wi-fi is a nice perk!

Here is what I wrote about castle inn on another thread-I am a never again person.

Castle inn- it was the cheapest available when I stayed here and I thought the castle idea seemed fun and it was just a short walk. Nope. Not up to my level of expectations for cleanliness. Also it was just plain run down and dated and actually farther than I want to walk at the end of the day. Also I felt like the second floor outdoor walkway could collapse and kill us all every time I walked on it. The walkway floor was buckled and "wavey" in several places.

However if it was recently renovated it may very improved. I haven't stayed there in several years.

I really liked Castle Inn... mostly because the staff was amazingly nice. The motel was..a motel. I was there for a race, so I really didn't care much about where I slept as long as I slept...but the location and staff really made it a bonus. We also got a great deal through agency that advertises a lot in the schools locally around AZ.

Cool - good to know! I know what you mean about being there for a race weekend, but sleep is super important for those weekends so I'm glad you got some sleep there! We will be in the parks for most of the day anyways, so it really is mostly just a place to sleep for us too
