Staying in the lobby?

To me, I would have booked 3 nights at a Moderate Disney hote instead of 2 nights full price at Beach club!

Good point!

Honestly, the OP's question is not that bizarre. She'd literally get to her resort at approx.1-130am right? 6 hours later, she'd be on the bus on her way to MK. I find it silly to get a hotel offsite for 5 hours!

On the other hand, when you wake up after sleeping in a bed, in retrospect the money spent can feel very worth it.

We arrived at the airport after midnight, and we paid for that night at POR. It felt silly paying a full day for those hours of sleep, but when we woke in the morning and we were in OUR room, with no need to pack up and move, it felt VERY worth the money.

I like newrvlady's idea of doing 3 nights at a mod instead of 2 nights at a deluxe!

Without a reservation, wouldn't you be loitering after a period of time? I wouldn't want to risk the embarrassment of being asked to leave. Add another night to your reservation, stay at an MCO hotel or (if you really can't afford a room for another night) stay at the airport a while longer and head over at like 5am or so.

I have posted since my original post. As far as feeing a free loader, being tacky, or thinking this is a bus terminal I don't think any of these comments are appropriate to me. The cast member I spoke with infact emailed me as well as the on duty manager of the Beach club I explained the whole thing and even told them opinions of people on this board and in the email it assured me that this is more common then you would think, and that it is perfectly ok. Since my flight lands at 1130 and we have to retrieve our own luggage we will not be ready to get on a magical express until the earliest of 1230/1 to the hotel by about 2am. They told me they would do the same thing. I get that this isn't what you all would do but it is something we are considering. Im sure I wouldn't agree with everything you all do on your vacation with that being said some of the nasty comments are not needed. We are ALL Disney lovers and Disney is magical so maybe say well I wouldn't do this but if I don't have anything nice to say I wont say anything at all.

A quick glance and their on the board button is lit up, so they are looking, even if they are not posting.

I believe if you don't log-off, the green light stays on. Me, I use invisible mode so my light is always red.

OP, you should ask your question over on the Yacht and Beach Club thread. There is a Beach Club CM who posts very frequently on it, and she will give you correct info about whether this is something that is ok to do at the Beach Club or not. What about brushing your teeth and washing faces, to be refreshed for a long Disney day? I assume you guys would be doing this in the lobby restroom?

OP-My biggest concern for you is that all of those people you have corresponded with, none of them will be at the resort. They have no control at all over what will happen. None at all! I beg you to seriously think about what you would do if you are told you cannot stay in the lobby. If your answer is pay rack rate for a room, do yourself a favor and just book a room at a value resort now. For around $100 you can have a place to get a good night's sleep. Start your vacation well rested.

Seriously--What will you do if you are told to book a room or leave? Saying you have e-mailed back and forth will do you no good. The people on these boards have more real world knowledge about what will probably happen than any person you have talked to or e-mailed. God's Truth!!!

Why did you post looking for advice when you are so adamant about not taking it? I'm honestly curious.

Book a room at the airport Hyatt or at one of the airport area hotels that has a shuttle, and catch DME over in the morning. Camping in the hotel lobby because you aren't interested in paying for a room just to sleep there isn't suggested. I have a hard time believing that it is "perfectly OK."

I went over and asked. I'm very curious as to what they will say. Not that I expect it will sway the OP one way or another. They seem to have made up their mind and think we all are either rude or worried for nothing.

And am I the only one who is very uncomfortable with the thought that they would let people sleep in the lobby?

Even if they don't kick you out, how much rest are you going to get in a lit lobby with people and things making noise all around you? How safe are you going to feel? How refreshed are you going to feel in the morning after dozing in the lobby?

If you do this, you are going to run out of steam at the park the next day, so instead of wasting money on a room you wasted money by not maximizing your use of your park ticket.

This is your 3rd post all together and they have been on this thread. We can see how many posts you have under your signature. Good Luck with that;)

First, I hope you and your husband get to enjoy a well deserved trip. I hope this helps with whatever you decide but a couple of years ago we (dh, ds and myself ) arrived at POR a couple of minutes after 6 am. I waited in line to check in but when it was my turn I was told (borderline rudely) that I couldn't until 7 am. We took a walk to the pool and just looked around then returned to the lobby around 6:30 to watch some cartoons and wait. After about only 20 minutes, another cm approached and asked if there was anyway she could be of service to us. So I'm not sure how long you would actually get to rest before being interupted. BTW- I explained what had happened and she said that was incorrect and had me follow her and she signed us in and let us in our room then and there with no wait. I would definitely take others advice of trying to get a value resort for that night. Good Luck and Welcome!!!

I'm totally uncomfortable with it, and HOPE that her husband is, too, being a police officer.

Exactly.

We have a similar flight schedule, arriving at 11:30 the night before our reservation. We booked a cheap room near the airport on Hotwire with free shuttle service for $60. We plan to get 5-6 hours of shut-eye and then take the shuttle back tot airport and hit Magical Express about 6 a.m. I figure we can be to the resort by 7:30 and then grab a park shuttle and get there close to rope drop at EMH rope drop.

Getting lousy sleep the night before a day in the parks , frankly, stinks.

Here is my question for all you Disney lovers. My husband booked a trip for my 30th birthday, no kids just me and DH. Our reservation is for May 21, our flight lands at 11:30pm on the 20, we want to head to the parks at 8 am on the 21. Has anyone ever stayed in the lobby? By the time we get to Beach Club it will be about 1:30 and we plan to be on a 7:00 shuttle to the magic kingdom. I don't want to make a reservation at another hotel for that night as I don't want the hassle of changing hotels and I also don't want to pay the $400+ for a night that we really won't be there for. Looking for any advice, thanks all!

Ask for early check in. You are at the hotel on the day of your scheduled arrival. Or just head to the food court.

The food court is not opened 24 hours. Plus, at the Beach Club, it is not a food court like at Pop Century. The Beach Club has a gift shop and a counter with some food - again - not opened 24 hours.

I still just don't get it. Why on earth would you WANT to sleep in the lobby? Book at a moderate so you can afford the extra night, or just take an early flight the next morning (aka day of your reservation). I would be so uncomfortable seeing people sleeping in a lobby when I've shelled out money for a room.

Honestly, if you do it one night, what would stop people from doing it more often? I can function of very little sleep, so if I wanted to hang out at Disney till 1-2am and then pick a random hotel there, "sleep" in the lobby till 6am, what's to stop me from doing it every night and not PAYING for my stay like other vacationers.

Your idea is just bad all around, and with the your last post it's pretty obvious you made your mind up to do this already, so why even ask for help? I also don't think anyone has been "nasty" to you, they're being honest with how they feel about this situation.
