Has anyone had any luck with this? We have one night booked standard studio, and one night booked preferred studio as we are piecing together a few days in February. I don't mind staying in the standard for both nights, but do you think they would accommodate us not having to switch rooms? Just wondering if anyone has had luck with this?

Not likely for DVC. If it was a regular room reservation in a non DVC room, there might be a possibility. But doubtful for a DVC room since DVC is almost always 100% booked.

You will not be able to stay. Someone has your SV room booked which is why you can’t book it yourself. There is a good chance they need it for more than one night.

I figured that was the case, but I was just curious if anyone had been able to 'downgrade" in that situation. I have a waitlist in both directions so if a room opens up in either category we can change it.

Just be sure to cancel the other waitlist if you get one of them.

99.9% not happening. What happens to the people who booked the other room category?
Exactly same answer. It happens on most of my trips and never get to stay in a different category even if I booked a Garden/pool for a few days and want to stay where we are in a standard. I never ask anymore as I understand. Plus it's no big deal to change (either Bell Svcs keeps luggage or if a family member in a second room, whomever has the new room avail, I just drag luggage there).
I actually like getting a fresh new room and new amenities.

We generally change rooms/resorts at least once each trip, so we are good at it. But, having said that, I do like when I can just lay down roots, unpack and spread out until it's time to go home.
Thank you for letting me know your experiences. It makes sense that it's near impossible to do.
