Staying at the Four Seasons or CL at the Grand Floridian?

Hey all!

So DH and I had a Disney Cruise planned for our anniversary this year but probably won't be able to go due to time constraints at work for him. In exchange we've been talking about taking the weekend and staying on property instead... but we're toying between two hotel options: the Four Seasons and CL park view at the GF.

Having priced the two it seems they're fairly similar cost wise for the view we'd want at the Four Seasons. We've been to the Four Seasons once before for Goofy's Breakfast and I feel like the resort and amenities would far exceed anything we'd get/experience at GF but having not stayed at either it's hard to gauge.

Just curious if anyone has stayed at both (or specifically at the Four Seasons) and has an opinion on the matter? For reference we'd probably be looking at a two-night stay and we usually do minimal park time when we go for our anniversary.

Well, 4S is certainly the better resort. But it doesn't quite have the advantage of being right on the monorail line for MK access. Yes, we've stayed at both and if I was going just for a WDW vacation then the GF would be my choice. However, if I could get the 4S at a very reasonable rate, I'd "rough it" there. ;)

Thanks for the insight! When we went to the FS for breakfast we called an Uber so the transportation to and from the parks would definitely be a "concern", haha. How were the buses at the FS? We usually don't go to the parks very much when we stay at a Deluxe resort, but I' msure we'd want to go at least once or twice while we're there...

Can't comment on that since we are local and would normally just drive. I'd agree that Uber/lyft to the Contemporary and then walk to the MK would be the way to go. Other parks would be fine with the bus.

The Four Seasons is an incredible resort. My husband and I went there for a quick weekend "honeymoon" (2 years later still haven't had time to do the real one!) and only went to Epcot for a half day. It was the second time we have stayed there, and he doesn't like Disney so getting him anywhere near anything Disney is a challenge. The restaurant at the top of the Four Seasons has THE BEST mashed potatoes I've ever had, and the bar downstairs had some great drinks. Pool area is fantastic. In between my two trips to that Four Seasons we stayed CL at the Contemporary (girls trip) and I can safely say I do not need to ever stay at any Deluxe resort as long as the Four Seasons is an option.

edit to add: the day we went to Epcot we just called and asked what time the busses run and we walked onto on it.. we were the only two on it!

...and just to be fair, I'd rate the Waldorf Astoria very highly on this equation as well. We've stayed there several times (on special occasions after dinner at Bull & Bear) and have been very impressed. Once we were able to see fireworks from three parks simultaneously from our balcony. :)
