Staying at Swan - Garden Grove or Tusker House??? Help

Our first morning at Disney we wanted to take DS to a character breakfast (its Sunday...Columbus Day). We are staying at the Swan and thought the Garden Grove would be a good idea, but the problem is, they don't take breakfast reservations.

We were planning to go to AK that day (it opens at 9am) and be there at rope drop.

So, here's my dilemma...
1) Do we chance it and try to get in to Garden Grove on that day or should I go for the sure thing at Tusker House at the Animal Kingdom?
2) How soon do the busses run to get us to AK? Would we have to take a taxi if we made our breakfast reservations for 8am so we could be ready by rope drop???

Any ideas/suggestions would be great.

I suppose we could skip it altogether...but its our first full day at Disney...ever...kwim???

PS - I absolutely adore the updated dining reservations on the Disney Site!! I love that it displays all my ressies based upon my login info and I don't have to enter each individual confirmation number now!!!!

Tusker House was our favorite character breakfast of the 6 we did on our last trip! Great food, loved the characters and the atmosphere (kids do a little parade around the restaurant). I'd definitely try to get the earliest ADR you can. You can be one of the first on the safari ride if you finish by rope drop (and the people at rope drop still have to walk all the way back there).

"Character Breakfast" Buses begin running to all park other than MK at 7am and run about every 30 minutes or so. (MK buses start around 630am or earlier). Check with a transportation CM at your resort to double check times, but that is generally the times they ran on our trip.

Location location location. If you are at the Swan, I would have to say eat there. Plus you can go back up to your room afterward, if you need to freshen up. It's rarely crowded at GG, so you should not have any wait, if at all, based on past experiences.
