Hi

We are getting ready to visit SOG in Dec- I was wondering if you can park @ the Poly to catch the monorail? We have a large party with lots of young ones and I heard the walk to Poly was a bit far??

Also, do they let you request for a certain location in the hotel? Anywhere that you could recommend? I would like to be near the front and/or food location. Dont care about the pool...

Thanks for any tips!

Parking at the Polynesian is for guests of that resort and those dining or shopping there. If you are not a guest of the Polynesian but wish to shop or dine there you will be given a 3 hour Visitor pass.

You can not park there to access the park. You can park right next door at the Ticket and Transportation Center and take the monorail from there to the park.

If everyone did this, there would not be any spaces for the guest paying to stay there. I am sure you can understand how you would feel if the same thing happened at your resort.

Okay-

Does anyone know by experience how far the walk is to the Poly? The last thing we want is to get too tired before we are even in the park! How about some bus experiences???

Thanks-

How far the walk to Poly is from WHERE? Not sure I'm understanding your question.. you're staying at SOG but asking how far to walk to Poly from somewhere?

My parents walked over from Shades of green to the Poly and said it took them about 10 minutes tops.

I agree. The walk is no more than 10 minutes, and it's pretty safe: there's a lit path and crosswalk.

From the old lobby of SoG to the monorail stop at the Polynesian is about a half mile. Very easy walk, well lit, and you can watch the gators sunning themselves int eh pond on your way.

No, you can not park at the Polynesian, they can and do tow those in violation of the three hour parking limit for non-guests.

We just walked from the Poly over to SOG to see how things looked last week. It's a good 10-15 minute walk with things laid across parts of the sidewalk due to continued construction at SOG. I wouldn't want to walk it in a storm nor on a daily basis.

Doesn't SoG offer bus transportation to their guests any longer?

SOG still has their own transportation, however, their transportation for MK only goes to the TTC, not directly to the MK, as the Disney Resort transportation does. I've seen a SOG bus at Disney MGM Studios, although I'm not sure where it's bus stop is.

Since you pick up the express monorail to the MK at the TTC, wouldn't busing to the TTC and hopping on the express monorail be just as quick as walking to the Poly and taking the resort monorail?

My thought for using the monorail from Poly is that we noticed on our last trip (stayed at Contemporary) that the lines for the monorail at the TTC was awful! We were so happy that our monorail dropped guests off and zipped us right to the MK. The only switch we did was to go to Epcot......

Its really the same either way- just trying to save some time and be as comfortable as possible!
