We just found out that we need a new roof so we are trying to cut back on certain parts of our trip! So, we might not be staying at POR anymore. I am SOOO bummed out about it, but what can you do? We'd be saving $700 by downgrading. I'm sure one of the values would be fine and the kids honestly won't know the difference but I had really been looking forward to staying here!

Please let me be the first to say that YOU will not even know the difference. LOL I know you've had your heart set on being in POR, but if you book for the POP, you will have the best time and you will be happy that you didn't spend that extra 700 on a Mod. Yes POR is beautiful! But Pop is so much fun, it's lively and it's probably the best place to be on your first trip! When I've slobbered over POR, I realize that as long as my kids are kids and as long as WDW is fairly new to us, and as long as we will be doing the parks more than anything else, staying at POR is not a smart idea cost wise. It's a great idea if you want to spend some time with your honey one on one and no kiddos, or once you've started going so often that hanging at your hotel is just as much apart of your vacation as going to the parks then staying at POR is a much better idea and not such a exspense that doesn't really make sense. POR will always be there, and getting to go to WDW will be just as amazing with out POR, trust me on POP, you won't regret it and your kids, you and hubby will have a blast

That's too bad!!! I know exactly how you feel. The same thing happened to me last trip...we were booked at POR and had to downgrade for financial reasons. We chose ASMU which was a HUGE mistake! We thought we'd enjoy it because my son is a musician, but it was the worst hotel experience I've ever had. Our entire building was without water for the first day - not an emergency - scheduled work! That was just the beginning, it went downhill from there - I won't tie up the thread with the details. I'm not trying to be negative, but I try to warn everyone I can about that hotel - it was that bad. You could always try POP - I have friends who swear by POP - they love it. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful trip! Lots of pixie dust coming your way for the perfect vacation!!!!

Thank you guys for your positive responses. I do feel better. My DH is actually the one fighting me on the downgrade because he says "Everything is all planned and we were looking forward to staying there". $700 is just ALOT of money and we could really use it towards the roof, you know?

I just sent him links to the Pop FAQ thread, the picture threads and all the great reviews on Trip Advisor.

I really think it will be fine but I still plan on keeping our ressie for Boatwrights for breakfast!! I've really been looking forward to trying the banana stuffed french toast

The water towers are above the boat & bike rental place, by the marina where you get the boat to DTD. They're in my sig in fact!

You are going to Disney and will have a great trip no matter what. I noticed that this is your first trip though. I agree with your husband. The difference in money is well worth it for the better experience you will get at POR.

There are 5 of us too. Dh, me, DD15, DD14, and DGD5. But I figure we won't be spending much time in the rooms so it should be okay. We wouldn't be going if we had to stay somewhere more expensive. I was able to convince DH to stay on property because of the Free dining.

we're headed back to POR in Aug ( our FAVORITE) and can't wait. Funny thing is, I just returned from a cruise that I planned last year (our first) and everyone on the cruise board (non disney) talked about how great it is and the towel animals too.....well
Don't get me wrong, it was a WONDERFUL experience (visiting foreign places and doing NEW things) but I STILL can't wait to get to POR. I REALLY feel like it is a HOME AWAY FROM HOME, REALLY!!! It's NUTS but I cannot wait to return again.....and again.....and again....
Our upcoming trip is with my brother/sis in law and their three girls (and one is my sons age) so they will be able to have some EXTRA fun together!!! CANNOT WAIT...

I know exactly what you mean! We did the cruise too and although I'm sooo glad I had the chance to do it, I couldn't stop thinking about getting back to POR!!
