Staying at POP, want to do one night at the Grand Floridian

I don't know if this is even possible, but I was thinking of surprising my sister with one night at the Grand Floridian, we have a breakfast booked mid week there and I thought of staying the night before. Don't want to spend the money for more than one night, but I was thinking that I don't want to have to pack up everything and move. Is it even possible to book the one night at the Grand Floridian, we just bring an overnight bag and keep our room at Pop? It's always been a bit of a bucket list thing to stay there, but I just can't justify the $8K difference to change our whole vacation there!!

If you pay for your room at Pop, then yes it's possible. If you do reservations for x number of nights at Pop, another ressie for one night at GF, then another ressie for x nights at Pop, then no, you aren't going to be able to keep your room. I'm assuming you are asking if you can have two reservations at two different resorts at the same time? I don't see why not but someone else might know the answer to that.

There's nothing saying you can't hold two resort reservations at the same time. Now if you wanted to keep your room at Pop, you would have to pay for the night at GF and the night at Pop, even though you aren't staying at the latter that night.

Disney tells you that you cannot have two at once, but you can easily book two at once online.

I have done this when we traveled as a large party of 10 people.

I registered all of us at the FTWCampground with a package then later added the room only at the POR and we just shared all of the amenities between all of us, taking turns in the room.

It was a wonderful trip!

Personally, I would recommend staying at the Grand Floridian on the last day, for a few reasons:
1. You won't have to return from the GF to POP, which would be a bit of a downer
2. You won't have to worry about overlapping reservations in the MDE system, as it seems you're considering
3. You won't have to pay for a wasted night at Pop
4. You'll leave WDW from the GF, which is right next to MK and the castle, & that's a nice way to depart from WDW.

I'm curious if anyone else has done this before. I've considered doing the same before to get the experience for one night but I would like to stay in the middle of the trip also to get two full days at the resort.

I agree with this 100%. I'd definitely stay on my last night for all of the reasons listed above. Going back to pop from GF would be a downer....and it would be a waste of money to pay for a room at pop when your not using it.....and finally, it would be nice to be at the GF on your last day.

I'm reviving this old thread to see if anyone has any recent experiences doing something like this. We are going for two weeks and am thinking about a little "staycation" within our trip, staying at the Grand Floridian over the weekend to avoid busy parks. Booked for two weeks at Pop, will keep the Pop room for this night so we don't have to pack everything up and just take an overnight bag for this stay. I'm thinking I will book room only for this night and maybe just get a key to lock and unlock the room instead of magic bands, will it mess up anything with My Disney experience, park reservations etc??

I've never done this but a quick google search and a search on the DIS found that there are people that have done this for a variety of reasons however it looks like the same name can't be on both room reservations. I would call and see what you can do perhaps add your sisters name to the GF reservation but as others have mentioned, it might be better to tack GF on at the end and not in the middle to 1- not mess up anything at POP and 2- going back to POP after a weekend at GF would be a let down. It would also be easier to manage since you'd technically be checked out at Pop.
